Freebsd support, yeah right, luck if it loads its bios 30% of the time to make the device usable
wanted to update my review, one last time: CARD IS OEM DELL PART, LSI WILL OFFER NO SUPPORT WHEN IT FAILS. WARRANTY FOR DELL EXPIRED ON OR ABOUT APRIL 2019. bought in march dead in august. 70% of the time it will not load its option rom at boot, doesn't really matter between cold boots nor warm boots. Cold boots slightly more reliable. Never reports accurate link speed in FreeBSD despite claiming full support. Once in a while when it does load the option rom during a software reboot the JBOD device in port 0,0 reports as being 0 bytes in size, which messes up boots that look to automount at boot. fixed by pulling drive out of hotswap cage and reinserting. Wish I had returned this when I had the chance. Using in Dell T3500 with Bios A19, not an uncommon workstation platform. Wanted to use for SSD boot zfs, but cannot even reliably give me auxiliary storage drives. stay away from this card if you run headless remote servers, you'll be pretty much hosed when it fails to work and you have to drive into a datacenter to force reboots and power supply shutdowns until it finally succumbs to loading the option rom.
