Q: does it really weight 22.5 pounds???? unbelievable but that is printed. hard hats dont weight that much.

That is probably the weight of a box of 20. We see that a lot. The hats themselves are right at a pound each.

Q: In my state a helmet is required for riding a bike, do think this would serve that purpose for say a thirteen year old or would it be overkill?

This helmet is not designed for bike riders. It can fall off if one leans forward enough, which for a bike rider, could be disastrous. Stick to bike helmets, not helmets designed for construction use.

Q: Does anybody know what size this is?

it's a size medium shell with a ratchet suspension that should fit head sizes 6.5 to a size 8. Thanks again from Texas America Safety Company
