Q: Has anyone else tried using the gel pads you buy for in the heels of your shoes and place them on your laptop? work great!

Has to work at least as well as these overpriced bits of cumbersome foam.

Q: Can these be bent over the edge of the laptop and partially stuck to the underside of the keyboard, in order to fully cover the sharp edge?

The pads are flexible enough to do this but the adhesive probably isn’t strong enough to keep it stuck in that position. I have found that just adhering it so that about 1/2” extends over the edge proved enough. Protection for the sharp edge on some laptops.

Q: Does not stick to the laptop even when washed with mild soap, warm water and air dried? How do i correct this?

It should, your palm rest areas must be very dirty. The pads can we washed, air dried but if the palm rest area is greasy they won't stick.

Q: Do these stay on and let the laptop close without problem?

I have an HP 360 Spectre and I keep these pad on my laptop 24/7. The screen can’t shut completely but that doesn’t seem to create a problem. The pads can also be removed and reapplied.
