to elaborate a bit: to reverse the rotation of the shaft you want to disassemble the motor and flip the field over. The field is the center part of the motor into which the two wires go. The rotor rotates inside the field, held into place at either end by the bearing housings, which bolt to the field. You want to flip the field over. To do this, you will probably need to remove the fan from the motor shaft. It should pull right off w/a little force. Disassemble the motor by first loosening the two little bolts that hold the motor together. Once removed, you can pull the bearing housings off either end of the field. You want to make sure that the rotor remains in the same position it was in the bearing housing with respect to where the fan mounts. In other words, one of the bearing housings has extended flanges where the motor mounts to a bracket. The other bearing housing does not have these extended flanges. The fan side of the motor has the bearing housing that DOES NOT have these extended flanges. Flip the field over, install the rotor back into the bearing housing, and replace the two bolts. Tighten them up. Make sure the shaft spins smoothly. Reinstall the fan. Set the assembly on the floor next to an extension cord. Plug in the plug for a second. The fan should rotate. See if it's in the direction you want it to turn. If not, you did something wrong. I hope this makes it a little easier to understand. Maybe I've made it more confusing! It's a pretty simple operation, really.

Q: Hi how many cfm is the motor

I could not find a CFM listed for this unit which may be because it would depend on the design of the housing as well. I can tell you that the Dayton 4C603A housing I put this unit in is rated for 80CFM. This motor is the same spec as the one I removed. I hope that helps.

Q: what size is the nut on the mounting screw for this fan? I need to replace the old one (same size) and need the right tool - small spanner? size?

The nuts require a 5/16 inch nut driver or hex socket. The screw heads require a 1/4 inch nut driver or hex socket, should you need to remove the rotor to change the direction of rotation.

Q: What is the dimension of the fan blade assembly..?

The fan blade has a 4.5 inch diameter, and 1 inch deep.
