Q: Used this pen for months & its great; it just randomly stopped working, I've replaced the battery, restarted my surface, etc. Nothing's working, help?

The same thing happened to me. The pen worked for about 3 months, then it stopped working. I checked the battery (it's at 90%), but the pen is dead. I can't recommend this pen to anyone based on my experience.

Q: will this scratch my screen i noticed it has a pretty hard nib?

Not sure, but I would recommend a screen protector. And it works well.
