Well-defined Superman with a great new articulated body
As I am getting into buying dolls for my new granddaughter, my grandson has expressed interest in getting some larger action figures (not dolls, right?) While his previous interests were all vehicles, he is now wanting to be a superhero as well. When I saw the Barbie Collection dolls in Superman and Batman, I took a chance and purchased them. While what I expected was Ken dressed as Superman, it was a great surprise to find that Mattel had created articulated and muscular bodies for these dolls. Superman is wearing a blue skintight bodysuit which is sewn on (no changing him into Clark Kent) with his emblem on his chest and a long red fabric cape (which attaches at the shoulder with hook and loop.) He also has almost knee high red plastic boots. Both hands are clenched in tight grips, so Superman cannot hold onto anything (not that any additional pieces were included in the box.) Along with the doll, a good and fairly sturdy stand is included; however, if you pose him just right, Superman can stand on his own. Both Superman and Batman have the same new articulated body. The articulation is quite nice but not up to the standards of an old GI Joe. There are articulation points at his neck, shoulders, biceps, elbows, writs, hips, knees, and ankles. The face of the action figure is definitely that of Henry Cavill, who is the face of Superman for a new generation with another two films in the works. This is a great doll (er, action figure) at its price point. My grandson is having a lot of fun playing Batman versus Superman (he is always Batman and either my husband or I get to play Superman.) I might have liked a little better articulation, a better sitting stance, and the ability to change clothes. I've been a fan of Superman since I was a little girl and this is one of the better action figures I have come across.

Really super!
Now this is what I call a superday for a collector! I'll try to cut it short - he is absolutely gorgeous, no 'baby face', bears a definite resemblance to amazing Henry Cavill, has a certificate, the outfit doesn't look cheap at all, the cape doesn't fall off the shoulders, he is perfectly muscled, and on the whole, I am beyond impressed for he looks much better than I pictured. My Mum is so pleased - it is a gift from her, so she was a bit nervous whether I was going to like him - well, I adore him! As for the face sculpt, well, for a full resemblance to the gorgeous actor one should purchase a Noel Cruz figurine, but I personally can't afford it, so I am perfectly happy with my great barbie Superman! The box was damaged, though - somewhat - but Supes is absolutely all right, so I am ready to turn a blind eye on it.

Barbie Wonder Woman Doll - Though, yet still feminine and beautiful.
My nine years old daughter begged me for this doll, and she was right, it is beautiful. It's articulated, resembles a lot the actual actress, and the character looks much more though than in the past, yet without loose its femininity. It is beautiful for a collector (who will never open its box), but it also makes the happiness of a kid who will actually play with it.It was a very good choice.

He’s Superman!
Very sturdy & durable body. Good quality suit & cape. Suit is sewn on but easy to remove stitching at the seam. Boots are a good quality as well. I’d buy him again.

Superman vs. Texas A&M Ken: info, pros and cons
(Wife):Barbie Superman is an OK substitute for the lack of a Made to Move Ken (at time of writing). Another is Texas A&M Ken -- probably the same body type as Divergent Ken and Hunger Games Ken, just like Superman's body type is probably like Barbie Batman's.Footwear vs. articulated foot: Our daughter managed to rip off Texas A&M Ken's feet, because the custom shoes fit the Ken's articulated feet really tightly. Similarly, I had to take scissors to the back of Superman's boots to protect his feet. But, I learned from our experience with Texas A&M Ken.Hair types: The non-superhero articulated male doll body type does tend to have real hair, unlike Barbie Superman. That is true; but the non-superhero dolls can also be glue heads. Our daughter left Texas A&M Ken out in the rain by accident at the grandparents' -- he was lost for a while -- and he managed to get a funky moldy-kinda smell in his hair. I did manage to get him cleaned up, using some soapy water and then after dry, a liberal spraying with Concrobium Mold Control. Hasn't been a problem since, but Texas A&M Ken is most likely a glue head. The dude has hair that can be seriously greasy at times. Clean it up a bit, and it can be all right for a while, so you can come to live with the glue heads.Clothes: Texas A&M Ken had a closure in the back of his suit. It was still a little challenging to get off; but he fits normal Ken clothes just great. Superman? Good grief! I forgot that I needed a seam ripper, so I ended up damaging Superman's super suit trying to take it off! You need to rip the seams -- no closures to speak of, the thing is sewn on -- at the back and also at the sleeves, to fit over those ridiculous fists (well, when what you're after is an articulated Ken). Ken clothes fitting Superman? Eh, shorts come close. Kinda. That's about it. Shirts only close at the bottom. He's too muscular at the top, and his arm and leg muscles are HUGE! Not so huge that I wouldn't use him, but huge, in an annoying sense (when you're after an articulated Ken). Oh, and NOT EVEN LARGE-BODIED MAN BUN KEN'S CLOTHES FIT!! Also, his arms' position will affect how shirts fit on him. So, please keep that in mind if you try to force-fit Ken clothes.Articulation: For the most part, I prefer Superman's articulation and range of motion over Texas A&M Ken's. I LOVE Superman's double-jointed elbows and knees! Texas A&M Ken does not have as great a range of motion. BUT, there's a caveat: those bulging arm muscles sometimes make it more difficult to position Superman's arms properly. Very annoying! But I guess we get used to it. As for holding poses: Texas A&M Ken does not stay seated that well -- his legs kinda slip out of position at times, especially at the hip joint. This is because that the elastic they used to connect the legs to the torso is too smooth -- i.e., covered in fabric, like elastic you'd find in clothes -- and thus slips over the hard plastic body. This is different from Made to Move Barbie, who (I believe) has plastic ball joints at the hip socket -- hence the better ability to actually HOLD a seated position pose. Now, Superman does not have this ball joint, either: his legs are held on by an elastic band, but it's got more grip (no cloth cover -- more like an automotive band). Still, Superman's legs will occasionally snap back to a position more conforming to the band. But, this does not happen all the time. Overall, when it comes to articulation, I generally found Superman to have better articulation -- not always, but quite often -- and also be able to hold poses better than Texas A&M Ken. I just get annoyed with those stupid arm muscles making arm maneuverability a bit difficult at times; but Superman makes up for it by being able to bring his arms closer to his chest than Texas A&M Ken.Overall, I would say that the Barbie superhero dolls (Superman and probably Batman as well) are worth a consideration if you are looking for an articulated / posable Ken. Just keep in mind that you will likely want to make your own clothes for Ken, and don't make the mistake I did -- get a seam ripper for the suit! I damaged ours a little. Oops. Well, we want him for a Ken doll, so whatever. We're not big-time collectors. You can check out other reviews for that side of things. Will try to include some pictures on different pose comparisons. = ) No shots of the hip sockets, but you can see some of the pose differences.

Barbie Collector Wonder Woman
This is a great looking doll/action figure. Kinda wishing I had one of these when I was younger. She has a very natural gorgeous look just like the actress Gal Gadot..not cheesy looking at all. I don't plan on taking it out of the box because it is a Barbie Collector therefore, I can't really comment on how she poses. In the box, she is holding a sword, shield, and has her "lasso of truth" on her hip. Her hair is a chestnut brown and looks great. Packaging is awesome and has cool artwork of her on the front & side of the box. The back has Superman & Batman artwork on it with a synopsis paragraph promoting the movie.
