Sunlite Universal Thumb Lock Hose End

I bought a 12 volt inflator from an auto parts store. It was -9F and I was fustrated with the hose. It's thumb lock was plastic ans shattered from the cold and my stress. I replace it with the sunlite thumb lock. It works fine. It fit my hose.It surley wont fit every hose out there. So if you buy this and are furious it doesnt fit then you should realize it was probably worth the try since its cheaper than a new pump. Plus if you get a new pump afterwards this may fit that one.Yes its half plastic. No it doesnt feel super sturdy. Yes it does its job.

When I received the item, I was not impressed. But then again, I didn't pay a fortune for the thumblock. I was having a hard time finding a replacement for my Bell Floor Pump and I came across this item on Amazon, so I ordered it.When it arrived I was a little disappointed that it didn't come with any way of securing it to the air hose. All you have to do is insert the thumblock into the end of the hose as far down as you can and start using it. Worked like a champ! Sure beats having to throw away my pump or having to replace it with another that would cost 10-15 times more! This little item work great and I highly recommend it. I should have ordered a couple more just in case and I'm thinking about it.

I had one of these heads on my 20 year old bike pump. At high pressure it leaked some air but not enough to hamper tire inflation. When my hose blew out, the replacement hose had a much cheaper Thumblock look-alike which broke after 1 year, so I bought this one. It appears very similar in quality to the one originally on the pump. The only difference I noticed is that the metal housing is somewhat thinner, but still seems adequate. Initially the plastic lever on the new one was very difficult to close, but I fixed that by filing its interior corner to make it slightly more rounded. The mechanism disassembles easily with a screwdriver.

I have a craftsman 19.2v air pump the ends leak air after 100 uses. not bad i dont think. so i replace the end, works great. i have 3 of them i use 2 at a time one is running i get the other on running.3rd one as a back up. i check my tire every 30 days. summer im letting air out winter filling them up. the other 2 seasons i never know what they need. I get 70,0000 out of my tire still have good tread but they start to have dry rot on the side walls. Wheel alignment Evey 5000 miles. i buy life time alignment. it really does hold the valve stem no air leaks around it. Hope this helps.

Old hose end on my tire compressor broke so bought this. I would have appreciated better quality, but this was priced right. Very easy to install. Virtually no leakage.

Had two of our hand/foot pumps fail because the original hose locks had failed. Got a pair of the Sunlite Universal Thumb (Hose) Locks. Originally attached by first slipping on a hose clamp over the pump to make sure that the new hose lock did not pop out when used. Bad idea for us: The hose clamp stressed the pump hose and caused it to fail along the edge of the hose clamp. Given that, we just slipped the new hose lock into the pump hose (having cut a "clean" -- meaning straight or unfrayed -- surface). Works great!

I purchased this thumblock for my old bicycle pump that has a 40 " long hose which is ideal to pump up main landing gear tires on small airplanes located under the wings. Unfortunately this thumblock leaks air the moment it is placed on the Schrader valve. Even when it is only located at the very tip of the Schrader valve it will still leak air because the internal parts are too close to the entrance of this thumblock, hence will press on the tip of the Schrader valve, cause it to open and leak air.While this thumblock is inexpensive, I do expect a design that works. I am therefore going to use amazon.com's very efficient merchandise return program to return this.

Simply put, the Sunlite product was a perfect replacement for the damaged part on my "old school" hand pump. I used it to repair a different (non-Schrader) brand of tire pump. It's probably a universal design that will work well with most older tire pump brands having a fairly standard hose diameter. I attached it with a very small hose clamp and it was a perfect repair. I'm very satisfied because it saved a very high quality hand pump that had become useless because of the old failed thumblock connector. It's nice to fix something and keep it out of the landfill. It's especially nice because this was a vintage USA made pump in excellent condition, otherwise.
