Interesting this 800 Lumen Light is brighter than my other hundred bazillion lumen lights I have.
I had a half dozen of at least 3 types of AAA battery lights that I usually use about 3 time a day for 1/2 - 1.5 hour total when I take my dog out at night to go pee. She usually takes her time and no amount of yelling or coercion will make her faster and if I don't I end up cleaning the floor. I knew I was going through a lot of AAA batteries in the last 6 months and realized that within the last 2 month between the dog and other household stuff I was going through about $45 worth of AAA batteries a month. AA Alkaline batteries have 2-3 times as much energy stored in them as AAA so I searched for AA battery powered flash lights. I bought two as I live in the boonies and bought 2 figuring I could save over half on my normal battery costs. I know lots of people complain about the inferior quality rechargeable which die after 3 months so I opted for AA. I had bought some Energizer flashlights in the past and they were pretty rugged like this. I was concerned about not having a "zoom" feature, but it keeps a bright spot in the middle and lights a very wide area around it at a lower intensity. They are really bright, I'm sure there are brighter ones but from my front porch to the road is about 130 yard, it you can see that clearly, so it was all good with me. As there are pistol grips on them it cuts both ways; first I feel like Thor and the light is a spotlight not a flashlight, but if I'm trying to do anything with my hands it becomes a little clunky. This is easily solved by a buying a few ( 5 for $5 on Amazon) wrist straps for flashlights. They are fairly rugged and am not worried about dropping, though the small plastic assembly used for lining up the contacts on the battery seems like it could be easy to break when changing the batteries if not careful. As I guess, these will pay for them selves in a little over 2 months at my current rate of us - highly recommended and now I know that a lot of the offshore brands and their lumens measurements are total fantasy.. Try it for yourself.. but some wrist straps and there is little to complain about.

Fantastic, then zip, nada, doesn't work.
We've had one of these for years and it's been our best flashlight. We decided we needed a 2nd one and I was tempted to try some others but saw mixed reviews so I placed an order for this one. It arrived quickly to our doorstep and it included all the batteries to fill it up--which last a fairly long time, by the way. To our utter delight, it's even brighter than our older model so apparently the Energizer folks have somehow upgraded the technology. Now we carry one of them in our vehicle whenever and use the new one every night when we take the dog out.Update January 2025:This flashlight has turned out to be a bust. We put new batteries in it and now it won't shut off all the way. I removed the batteries, verified that they were properly installed and I could find nothing wrong with the contacts. I reinserted them but the problem is still there. At this point, it's useless unless you want to put in 6 new batteries every day. With nothing to lose, I decided I'd open it up. It's held together with 12 screws but when they're removed the light is still stuck together with no apparent way to get inside to fix it.Meanwhile, our older one by the same name still works after what must be almost 10 years by now. Unfortunately, it's not as bright as the new one but now it's the only one of the two that lights up at all. Sadly, I guess it's time to shop for another brand. We really liked these.

Great for sweeping the yard after dark to avoid fights between my dog and wandering night critters.
I live in an area with woods and bears, raccoons, possums. I must let my dog out at night to do her business before we go to bed, so to avoid startling the night creatures and leading to an attack or my dog running after one thru the woods, I use this light to sweep the area around my house to make sure there are no lurking critters out and about before I let her out.I especially don't want to startle a bear, but before I bought this flashlight, she had a few surprise raccoon/possum encounters and those are dangerous and unpleasant at best, one leading to a vet visit after a fight with a raccoon. Raccoons are fierce fighters who can do some damage, and possums don't always play dead and have a mouth full of 50 teeth! If they do play dead, I have to wade in and retrieve the possum from my dog before she can kill or injure it.I love that this light is rechargeable, and you store the recharge cable it in a little compartment inside the flashlight itself. I hate having to keep track of all the recharge cables that go with various devices, so with this one I never have to root around in a cable drawer to find the right one, since the cable is stored in a compartment right inside the flashlight itself.Highly recommend!

Terrible warranty process via OEM
After purchasing 1 of these lanterns charging design flaws (port connection failure) outside the AMZ return window caused a Warranty claim with Energizer.Online Warranty details state "Fix or replace". Response from Energizer was an offer of a coupon good for a future purchase. The coupon amount was for about a third of cost to replace . Avoid these lanterns and the brand.
