I don't know what would work best for you, but I can tell you that a 32 is a 14 and 33 is a 16, and so on. If you usually wear an 18, you would get a 34. As I recall, they run true to size. I would recommend getting your usual size.

The sizes by this company are now done like the way mens pants are sized. The numbers you see are a measurement of your waist all the way around in inches. If you measure that, you will be able to find your size. For reference, I am 5'8", 135lbs, and wear a size 12 because my hips are wide, so that's a 32 with this company. If you are an 8, you can likely fit a 30. But the return policy is pretty easy if they don't fit. These particular jeans are soft and have a good deal of stretch in the material. They are the only brand I buy. Hope that helps!

R does mean regular. If you are referring to length, i had to return the regular for the s, which I assume means short. The lengths run 34, 32 and 30.
