Impressed
This is an amazing game. Its not like the normal lego games (batman, indiana jones, starwars, etc.). It is a real time strategy game. You have to take control of little mini figures and build a (i woudn't say city) base where your soldiers are made and such. There are so many entertaining levels. You have to use builders to build barracks, castles, vehicle factories, and farms. To win the levels you have to complete a series of goals. Some levels have one goal while some have 3 or 4. Some are as simple as "defend your outpost" in which a timer comes up and you defend until runs out. Some are hard like "destroy the enemy outposts" depending on how strong the outpost is. I wuld recomend this for at least 6 0r 7 years of age. Note: this is not a game in which you take a character, say batman, and switch him out with another, lets say robin or batgirl, and battle enemies and fight bosses. This is a (honestly) more realistic game. The game includes something that not everyone would expect, build time. It actually takes a couple seconds (maybe even a minute) to build your soldiers and buildings. The game becomes much more advanced because of this. Make sure to warn your kids that this is something much more different then normal lego games. You need to think much harder and work fast and multitask to win in a game like this.

Finally -- a solid Real-Time-Strategy game for the DS
First, what it's not. Lego Battles is not just another Lego shoot-em-up game for the DS. Your six year old will probably hate it, if they aren't willing to learn how to play real-time strategy games. This isn't a game where you run around shooting things. This is a game where you build cities, control soldiers, builders, heroes, etc. Is it fun? absolutely. This game feels like Warcraft 2 for the DS, which is a compliment. It's a great RTS with Castles, Barracks, Farms, soldiers, kings, workers, etc. It has some of the more "advanced" RTS controls, things like build queues, rally points, etc., which we've come to expect from games like Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander, and others.I have really enjoyed this game because it fills a void: the missing RTS for the DS. I've looked around, but hadn't found anything good in this genre on the DS. Lego Battles allows you to strategically build cities, plan battles, etc. My only complaint is that some of the early campaigns are very easy. I wish there were a way to increase the difficulty. That said, it's an outstanding game. Highly recommended.

this game is my children's favorite!
great review for this game. interactive, works great with my boys' regular DS and DSI. no issue with the game not working yet. and my kids have really gotten their money worth on this game so far! it's played every day for almost 2 months! My 8 year old, 9 year old and 14 year old love this game so it's a good game to grow with your child.

My 6 and 9 year olds love it!
A previous reviewer said your six-year-old may not like it, as it's a strategy game. This made me laugh as my six-year-old son recently begged me for another copy, so that he and his brother can each have their own. This is like WarCraft, which they also loved until I banned it. This game is as much fun, but the images aren't as realistic -- just didn't think my kids needed to see the real-looking people in WarCraft engaging in, well, war. Lego Battles is a high quality game that keeps them engaged on even the longest overseas air flights.

Fun time killer
I couldn't put the game down once I got it. I played through all six of the campaigns to completion. While the game has some detractors- for example, the sameness of the missions, the small battles (I'm guessing because hardware limitations) and intermittently wonky controls- it is a very fun set of campaigns and highly addictive. It is easily worth the $10 asking price and possibly the most fun I've had on the DS in a very long time.

Lego version of Age of Mythology
I purchased this game as the first DSi game for my 10-yr-old son. Other reviewers have commented on the difficulty level. My son is a pretty sophisticated gamer--someone who can enjoy Crash on his PS2 as well as Medieval II Total War on a PC. He just loves video games! He says this game is a Lego version of Age of Mythology. It is more involved than a Super Mario or a Crash game in that you have to build things and develop strategies, but my son has found it to be very user friendly. He's had no trouble with the game and has been playing it constantly since we got it. Like other Lego games, it has a lot of humor as well as rewards for the further you go in the game. My 5-yr-old daughter as well as my 10-yr-old son like watching the movies that open up as you progress in the game. He thinks it's a blast!

Good beginner tactical game
I purchased this game for my 7 year old son who has really enjoyed this game so far. It starts out really easy and gets progressively harder though the game. It has actually proved to be a great brain exercise for him since it is a tactical game that requires a lot of thought before you make your move. The game play itself is pretty simplistic which is pretty much what you should expect from any lego game, but it has proved to be a bigger challenge to beat than we ever expected. This is not the best tactical game that I've seen but it makes a good introduction to this type of game play.
