Eric Aadharr O'Gorman is my Hero!
This book was the most helpful resource when I spent 7 months on a gastric feeding tube. My dietician had next to no advice to offer. There are other resources out there more geared for pediatrics, but this book is the MOST helpful for adults. Lots of practical tips, such as how to unclog a tube, what foods blend well, and reassurance to blend the food YOU like. His reflection that everyone does something like leave the top off the blender and make a huge mess was very reassuring through the difficult process of making daily blends, and made me feel not so isolated and alone in dealing with this. It is SO important to give oneself good nutrition with real foods rather than rely on canned formula, with the main ingredient being corn maltodextrin. I am particularly in awe that Eric wrote this book while he personally was declining due to an autoimmune disorder. He absolutely made a huge contribution to the thousands of people living on gastric feeding tubes by writing this book.

Great info on Tubefeeding - especially using pureed foods
I bought this book and the Homemade Blended Formula Handbook when my son's nutritionist gave us the okay to try pureed food through his g-tube. This book is fantastic! My son has had a g-tube for 2 1/2 years, so I skipped some of the info on caring for the button and cleaning the tubing and syringes. But, if you or someone you are caring for is getting a feeding tube, this book will provide you with valuable info on what to expect and how to care for your tube.If you are interested in trying pureed food through a g-tube, this book has many practical tips (like how to unclog your tube when food gets stuck in it) and tons of recipes. It will teach you how to create a recipe or recipes with the correct amount of protein, grains, fruits and veggies and it provides great info on herbs that can help with reflux, stomach motility and stomach aches. I also liked the tip on a water bolus 30 minutes before a feeding as a way to help empty out the stomach. I found this book to be more helpful than the Blended Formula Handbook, which is a compilation of articles from parents, therapists and healthcare providers.

For every family with a tubie!
Wow! This is exactly the kind of book I was looking for to deal with my 1-year-old son, who has been tube-fed (NG and G) since he was 2-months-old. It gave me the confidence to try a blenderized diet, which has significantly helped with his vomiting issues. My boy was vomiting 20-30 times/day, but since putting him on a blenderized diet several months ago, he vomits less than 5 times/day. This is a vast improvement! This book is my go-to resource on which food to include in his diet, i.e. ginger to help with the nausea, and cinnamon to help make vomiting less painful. What a great resource! I've already bought it for another family with a tubie baby, and for my friend who is caring for her 95-year-old mother, who is on a G-tube too. I can't recommend it enough. If you're trying to decide whether to get a G-tube or to stay on the NG-tube... get the G-tube. There's a little bit a learning curve, but it's so much better. Also, ask your doctor for at least a 14-Fr G-tube. I wish I had. We only have a 12-Fr, so we sometimes get clogs from the blenderized diet.

Complete Tubefeeding Book Educated New Tubie
Our UCLA hematologist was so impressed that he asked me for the link to share with his other patients. He said all patients who are in need of a G-tube should read this book and get the education you have received and for such a reasonable price. It gave us confidence that we would be able to use it correctly and benefit from it. It madethe worry and fear much less.

Please add more the book
I was disappointed that there was not more about times to feed and water. I am having trouble trying to figure out when my stomach is empty. Should I add more water than the 50 mil flush after eating is that okay? Should I wait an hour or 2 hours before putting more water? Can I add water right after I eat or does it dilute my food and cause me more issues? Right now when I feed myself all at once say 8 oz of food my abdomen hurts I believe it's because of constipation but I am not sure. Other than that this is an excellent book

Great Guide
I have read this book several times and it is my to go to book. I feel everyone that is a tubie could benefit from this bookand should be given out as standard issue when a person is released from the hospital. The book explains so much more as what to do and expect along with alternative feeding methods. The book is well written and easy to understand right down to the blenders that work if one chooses to go that path.

this book is so helpful
I bought this book when my son stopped eating and drinking and ended up with and NG tube. We started right away on a blended diet and I was hoping I could find a book that would help me with that. I came across this gem here on amazon and I refer to it frequently. My son now has a g-tube and I'm not sure I would have felt confident making the decisions I have had to make as of late without this excellent book to give me the information I needed. This really is a must have for tubefed people or for parents of tubies. What a great informative book. Has loads of blended diet recipes, but my favorite parts are the parts that talk about what its like to be a tubie, my son is nonverbal and diagnosed with autism and I am so glad to get insight into what its like so I can be compassionate and I hope understanding toward him. Thank you Eric for sharing with us. Its been a great help to this momma.

very new book, thanks
Book is new, but content not very much from medical perspective, but user perspective more, which is good. I would consider as a supplement.
