Need a telescope observing chair? This chair is ideal.
This thing is solid and doesn’t wobble or have any other problems I could notice. The seat rotates as well which makes it better than many other observing chairs out there.Only issue was the shipping box which arrived beat up pretty bad. The packaging did protect the chair so no damage to the chair. The chair is build very solid.Well worth the price. You get what you pay for.

Strong, sturdy, and stable telescope stool
This stool/chair is great for using with my telescope. It is strong, sturdy, and stable and I am 250 pounds. You can move the seat to a lower position when observing the stars high in the sky, and raise it to a higher position to observe the stars lower in the sky. It is pricey but well worth the cost. I don’t see the benefit of the swivel seat but I think the seat is bigger than the model without the swivel seat. I do like the larger seat especially when I’m sitting towards the top.

astronomy chair
I opted for this design as opposed to the continuously variable sliding seat design. Fit and finish are good. The chair should see years of reliable service. I modified the chair by putting small adhesive Velcro squares where the footrest and the kickstand touch the main frame. This was done to slow down the wear from metal to metal contact. It is a trivial matter. A wrap of electrical tape would do the same thing. The seat fits snugly on the rails. This will likely get looser and easier to move as the chair gets worn in. I very much liked that I could lean forward over the eyepiece of my telescope and did not fear the chair would tilt. I like the swivel seat which permits my knees to move to the side of the telescope tripod without bumping the scope, as I dismount the chair. Finally, I was able to use the chair on low and high settings. The low setting is handy for sighting through my red dot finder for high elevation stars. Recommended.

Took 3 tries to get what I ordered
Vestil has been a pain to deal with, has manufacturing, packaging, and shipping problems. Plus they are horrid about not following up. While I am generally happy with the product, it has been pulling teeth to get to this point, and has wasted a lot of time. Finally received working one in mid-September after placing original order in June.I have a much older version of this chair with a fixed seat and I have wanted to try the swivel seat for some time. I finally placed an order and the saga began. The first shipment arrived with the ends protruding from the box due to poor packaging. There were only minor scrapes and I would have kept it...except they sent the wrong model (fixed seat) even though the paperwork was right (swivel), and the box was clearly marked as the fixed seat model when I checked. I requested a replacement. The replacement arrived in better packaging, in July, and was the right model, but there was an obvious manufacturing defect. The seat was super tight, and had to be driven into place on the rails. This was gouging paint off the rail on the underside. A bigger problem is that it was even tougher to pull apart when I needed to change seat positions (which I need to do frequently...the whole point of the chair.)The problem is that the C-channel welded into the chair seat (which has a plastic bearing surface) was welded too low in between the side slots. Note that the fixed seat did NOT have this problem, nor did my old one from long ago. This put the top of the bearing surface fully down into the space, while leaving a gap on the other side.Rather than just return it through Amazon as defective and try again a third time, I made the mistake of trying to work directly with the company to see if they could send parts or a new seat. I did this trying to be helpful, but that backfired badly. The customer rep I spoke to never called me, emailed me or anything. I had to keep calling her once a week to find out if there was progress. Nothing. So I tried someone else, now past my return window because I had an out of country trip while waiting for this to be resolved. It was now well into August.Originally the company said it was outside their warranty, but then I pointed out that I had been making requests for over a month and getting crickets from them. So then I had to submit an explanation of the defect, then an image, then finally a video. The rep tried to deny it was a defect, just unusually tight and implied I didn't know how to use their chair. Finally, I got authorization for another return direct to them, with the promise that a new one would ship when the return arrived.I did the return...and waited...eventually tracking showed that the return had been received, so I waited. Crickets again. I gave it time for the replacement to show up, nothing. So I called again and they verified they had received the return, and it had been returned to stock! (Despite being DEFECTIVE.) However, someone forgot to ship the replacement. So I waited again and heard nothing. I called and they said it had shipped days before and gave me the tracking number. I finally received a working chair a few days later. It is also welded well off center, but not so bad that I have to beat on the seat to get it in and out.

Works great for my 10" and 16" dob
No complaints. Works fine. Yes the paint wears off where it locks to the rungs of course. Who cares? Some people are just never happy. Everything wears with use. Most people would be shocked to see the wear in the cockpit of a 727 airliner. Anyway... its adjustable, doesnt drop you to the floor, and holds 230lbs without issue.
