I've used these for 2 years and have not experienced any rust. They also are effective as I've not seen a single bird land on the fence where these are installed. Each strip requires assembly. I do it by inserting each spike and then pressing the strip down on a hard surface until the spike snaps into place. A bit tedious but easy assembly process. I've screwed some of the assembled strips into my wood fence but also have used construction cement with good results as well.

Used the strips underneath the roofline of a wooden gazebo, placed atop the cross beams.Used stick pins to fasten, much quicker.Right side up deterred the robins on the wood beams.Upside down shoved into the corners deterred wrens from entering from below.

I returned this product because it’s more for little creatures than to actually prevent intruders from jumping a fence, etc.However, it is well made, sharp, complex design, fits a wooden fence as it should, and functions- like I said- for small creatures like squirrels, cats, birds, etc.

Second time I purchased these. Cut to size, and I install using Clear Caulking for easy removal

The bird spikes work well at deterring birds from sitting on the window sills. But, they are difficult to assemble.
