Fjällräven Kanken 17" Ox Red One Size

The gold standard, aesthetically pleasing, and multipurpose. I use this as a trendy laptop carrier for work, an airline-compliant carryon bag for weekend trips, and anything in between. It is water resistant and kept my laptop and important papers dry in an absolute downpour. It’s super comfortable and the sturdiest bag I’ve ever had! The size difference between the Kanken and Kanken big is significant - this bag fits quite a lot! Well worth the money.

This backpack is perfect for a too big laptop, which was the cause for my initial purchase. I like that it's shaped like a beautiful brick and so durable. I liked it so much that when it was stolen out of my friend's car, I bought it again the next day. Also, I was out of town for work and I couldn't carry my work laptop in a towel with a rubber-band, that seems irresponsible. Don't worry, the only thing in the backpack were 2 giant water bottles, a windbreaker, and a pencil case with 2 pencils in it. While I may not seem responsible, I did pay for 1/2 the cost of the insurance to repair the damage and for this backpack twice, ugh. Mistakes! Why do we have to make them!? Time is a flat circle, what does that even mean!?

Great pack, excellent quality for the price. Nice and roomy, sturdy, and well made. Fits my big HP 17" laptop in the back laptop pocket plus a lot more in the second pocket. The second pocket also includes an inside pocket against the laptop pocket which is good for paperwork/folders . I was hesitant about the style of the straps before purchasing but they are fine. You can spend a lot more on a backpack - I think this is great for the price and expect I'll have it for years to come. I use it for both work and travel.

I got the 17-inch Laptop version about a month ago and I'm very happy with my purchase. I got the color Graphite, which is a slightly blue-ish dark grey, which is a nice color. I use the backpack for high school and it holds most of my stuff really well! I can fit two one-inch binders, a few thin notebooks, my 13-inch macbook pro, and a entire lunch bag at once! It gets a little heavy but I'm guessing that's because it's high school. There's the front zipper pocket that holds small things, and inside the main pocket there's a dividing elastic pocket for better organization. The laptop compartment is padded pretty well and is in the back. The water bottle holder is a flush solid pocket on the side that's not stretchable, so beware if you have a wider water bottle. But otherwise, it holds my contigo 24 oz one quite well.The reason why I gave only 4 stars is because of how narrow the backpack actually is and the strap fitting: I can fit a binder inside, but it barely fits in without protruding from the sides, which in turn affects how much the water bottle pocket can hold, which makes it sometimes annoying to adjust your backpack and then force your water bottle in. It's still usable, but just a little bit of a hassle. Also, the back straps are kind of weirdly attached, because you have to make it loose enough so that you can fit it around your shoulders, but then the top of the backpack is kind of loose around your back. It's not a big issue though.Overall, I really recommend this backpack if you're a student with a lot of things to carry around, but you still want to have a good-looking, durable backpack (that's very waterproof too!) :-)

This backpack has quickly become my favorite bag for everything from work to hiking to traveling and more. My laptop isn't 17in, but I went with this size so I could fit more in the rest of the bag. The padding around the laptop area is a little thin for my concerns, so I put my 13in MacBook inside of a sleeve and then slide all of that in the back of the backpack and still have some room.The shoulder straps are very well enforced and doesn't add pressure or dig into my shoulders when it's full and heavy. The handles for the top are handy for when I just need to grab-and-go with the bag. The fabric is kind of stiff when you first purchase it, but after a little use you can break it in. The patch for the logo is reflective, which is nice for when you're walking and it's dark out. The side pocket is meant for a tall, thin bottle, so while my Nalgene won't fit, my coffee tumbler or thinner water bottle will. The front pocket is nice and deep so I have everything from pens to keys to power bars with plenty of room to spare.

I love it! I'm a biomedical engineering student with a focus in pre med, so naturally I have a ton of books, lab notebooks, and a decently sized laptop (17in HP Envy) to carry around day to day and this fits all of it. The straps distribute the weight evenly to both shoulders and you also have the option of holding it like a briefcase (although I have no idea why you would) if thats your thing. Its also appears to be waterproof! The backpacks cute enough that you'll want to carry it around and its built well enough that you can be confident all of your things will be safe, and dry. 10/10 will buy again

Nice and big and well made. I originally bought this for my son to use while we traveled through Europe for 6 weeks last year and it was perfect. It is tall and roomy and can fit quite a bit of items! A year later and a lot of use, the back pack still looks new and my daughter is now going to use it for her senior year. She loves that it has a separate compartment for her laptop and has plenty of room for her books and lunch!
