NECA 1/4 Scale Figure Superman (Reeve) Action Figure

Ever since I was nine-years-old, I have wanted a Superman figure that looked like Chris Reeve. Having seen Donner's masterpiece on it's initial theatrical run in 1978, this has been a dream of mine. I recall having the Mego 12" Superman (now known as the Reeve version) and that was good enough for me at the time. Hot Toys from Japan did an excellent edition a few years back, but I never was able to justify dropping $300 or more on an action figure.When I saw NECA was releasing a 1/4 scale CHRISTOPHER REEVE Supes, I was estatic. Their work on the 1989 Batman was incredible and captured Keaton's coweled likeness wonderfully. I just knew I had to have one for my "geek palace". At $100, you could do FAR worse. The pictures don't do him justice at all. The likeness is uncanny and, while it isn't as finely detailed as the Hot Toys version, I think this looks a bit more like Reeve to me. The details do look like he's in a cloth costume. That speaks volumes to the care and attention to detail NECA put into this figure. The cape drapes nicely and is attached to the suit accurately. Since its arrival, I have barely been able to take my eyes of it. It comes with an extra set of open "flying" hands. The articulation is decent and I'd really like to experiment with different poses. I love how the "ab crunch" is under the plastic suit and not visible. As a matter of fact, nearly ALL of the articulation points are all but invisible.While younger folks today see that first Donner film as cheesy and out dated, Superman The Movie remains the benchmark for other superhero films to aspire to. Chris Reeve will ALWAYS be the definitive Superman to me...and NECA has done right by those of us who will forever be touched by his portrayal.I dare you not to look at this figure in person and NOT hum John Williams rousing score!!!Okay, NECA......Give us Terrence Stamp's ZOD!!!!!!

Most of us looking at this figure have probably been waiting a long while for a Christopher Reeve Superman figure at an affordable price. This one meets all of my expectations. I was a little wary of the lack of a cloth costume, but NECA has pulled it off with flying colors. The figure poses nicely and stands well on its own. My favorite aspect of this figure is the cape. The detail of the back "S" logo is gorgeous. It has the appearance of being sewn on. The cape is a little wrinkled once removed from the package but is quite easily remedied with a quick iron. The packaging is also top-notch. This is just my opinion, but judging from the pics I've seen of the Hot Toys version, NECA's rendition seems to take the upper-hand. If you're on the fence deciding on buying this or not, take the plunge. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, NECA, for a great figure!

A very life like figure in Christopher Reeve's likeness. This is a plastic figure with a cloth cape; however, the uniform looks like cloth and it is actually soft to the touch. It appears, the "clothing" is wrapped over some kind of frame that molds the figure. The figure is not too articulated but that helps with the life like features since there are no oversize joints. It is still very easy to pose it in a couple of ways. The head sculpt is very detailed as are the boots.

This was a gift. The box was BEYOND f'd up. So angry seeing as the receiver is an extreme collector.

This is one really tall piece! And it REALLY looks like Christopher Reeve. The publicity photos simply do not capture how much this looks like Reeve in person. The face is more accurate than the far more expensive Hot Toys version. The cape is cotton and drapes really nicely! The sculpt is detailed and accurate. The suit on the torso is rubber while the arms and legs are plastic. Very poseable!

Awesome figure! For the price you can't be it. I can't afford to spend $200 or $300 plus on one figure, so this is a great alternative. The size if definitely a plus as well.

Another amazing 1/4 scale figure from NECA. The detail on this Superman figure is impressive and it is almost hard to believe that the figure is not wearing a cloth costume; its completely molded in plastic except for the cape. The slight shine to the boots and matted sheen to the blue plastic costume give it an effect of fabric. The joints are tight and the figure easily stands on its own. The facial features capture the likeness and expression of Christopher Reeve perfectly. Truly a super-figure and worthy of a collectable.
