Good reliable brand. Start slow.
I don’t know how well it will lower my cholesterol yet, I will find out when I have my annual checkup in Oct. I’m starting gradual and increasing dosage every 4 to 5 days and with up to 400 to 500mg.I take it about 20 min after dinner with a large glass of water. I don’t have a lot of side effect, a hot flush about 2 hours after I took it and it only last about 5 - 10min, not bad.Hope I can work up to the higher dose I want and cholesterol under control. I stopped taking statin to make this change and incorporating good diet, fish twice a week, lots of vegetables, handful of mixed nut ( walnut, almond, pistachio, pecan) all unflavored everyday. Apples and bananas. Cross my fingers.

Good Stuff
Welp. I started reading a lot about niacin and was amazed at all the benefits. I am not a believer in starting big and working my way down if things are not going great. Start lower and if fine, stay there. If you feel you can go bigger, then do that. This stuff improves mood no doubt. It also gives more energy. I just take one 50 mg pill per day or at least five days per week. There are 300 pills so we are talking about nearly one year's worth of pills. It is said to open blood vessels which is clearly important unless you are a zombie.I like Carlson brands as well. I liked their cod liver oil with the lemon flavor. I guess I am one of those goofballs that actually likes the taste of pure cod liver oil. However, the addition of various flavors like lemon is so good that you literally do not taste cod liver oil at all. It tastes like a lemon drink. I swig it from the bottle- lol.. That's how easy it goes down.So yeah, this niacin from Carlson is good stuff and with 300 small pills it's a win.

Works Great
Bought these to help with my cholesterol. I have not had blood work done yet since taking these, so will update my review once I have done so. However, I wanted to say that, because I've always had high cholesterol, and with my hormones being crazy after the birth of my 3rd child, I was losing my hair like crazy. I cannot take my lipitor while nursing, so I decided to try this, per my Doctor's suggestion. Since taking one of these a day for the past just over a month, I have stopped losing my hair, so I can only imagine what my levels are like. I would definitely recommend taking niacin. In appropriate levels, it's so much better for you than any cholesterol meds. I take one every morning after eating breakfast, and the one day I made a mistake and took one before I ate, I certainly paid for it. I was hot, red, itchy and uncomfortable, but it wasn't unbearable and symptoms gradually lessened then disappeard after an hour or so. So definitely take on a full stomach. This is definitely a cost effective alternative also, great value. I can't compare one brand to the next because this is the first time I've ever taken niacin, but I have no complaints with this brand.

Triglycerides down 155 points, Total Cholesterol down 44 points in 7 weeks!
My doctor gave me 7 weeks to get my Triglycerides down - they'd skyrocketed to 240 in the past year and my Total Cholesterol had also risen to 296. Yes, high Cholesterol runs in the family despite our pretty Mediterranean diet! So, decided to try a number of supplements, turmeric, fish oil and of course, Niacin. Started with this brand because of the small dose and increased by 50 mg. every day until I reached 500. Yes, the flush was bad but only for about 10-15 minutes and as my body acclimated, it became less of an issue. After 7 weeks, got my blood work done, and the Triglycerides had dropped 155 points, to 65 and even more surprising, my overall Cholesterol was down 44 points and my good HDL had increased from 65 to 83! The doctor was stunned, to put it mildly! Not sure if it was just the Niacin but obviously, it had to play a big part. Other changes included eating more salmon, almonds and an unpeeled apple every day!

Love these, buying again.
Very small little tablets that are easy to swallow even by my little kiddos. This is the flushing type of Niacin, but the flushing Niacin is better for you. But you can avoid flushing by working your way up in dosage. I an trying to work up to 1000mg 3 time per day. This will take me awhile. Read the book Niacin, The Real Story. Best book out there on the topic of niacin. Niacin is one of the most important vitamins to take. Has many health benefits, one of which is lowering cholesterol more effectively than statins.

quality product from a good company. get your B3!
B3, niacin, is an important vitamin. It lowers cholesterol, lowers cardiovascular disease risk, can help treat and prevent diabetes is great for skin health, helps brain function, and helps treat arthritis. if you are going to take a B vitamin supplement, this is a high quality supplement in my opinion. higher quality makes it easier to absorb and use the nutrients.

Bad choice
I had been using a competitors niacin and would look forward to the flush that came daily. At times it was barely noticable, but felt it. The first dose of this I felt nothing and after 2 hours took another dose; still nothing. Called the company to be told there is nothing wrong with it; each uses their own ingredients. If you are looking for a flush, get another brand. I found their technical support to be less than helpful.
