I think I waited way too long to change these planer blades but since I did it made a unbelievable difference. These blades are simple to change

My husband does a lot of wood working projects and needed some replacement blades. These were just what he needed and his machine works well now.

These blades are a direct replacement for my 30+ year old Makita model 2012 planer.

Perfect fit, smooth clean cut

Took me a little while to rotate these into use on my Makita planer, but now that that I have I can say that they don't seem to hold up as well as the genuine Makita's from a clean cutting perspective. Initially they were fine and smooth as glass, but now after about 300 LF (total of multiple passes) of 1/64" cuts on some 8" clear pine and 6" #1 hard maple, the machine is working noticeably harder (louder) and tearout is beginning to rear it's head. Makita blades usually get me to 500+ LF before I notice issues.That being said, there is a value proposition: As anyone with a 2012NB know, blade changes are super easy and as with ANY planer, nicks are inevitable. So I'll probably continue to buy these knowing that they aren't the great deal they appear to be, but rather a way to feel less bad about changing a set out when I hit a staple or sand grain in a knot.
