Why the stem length change?
I ordered two sets about 3 months ago, and those stems were long, I ordered the same thing and I'm getting shorter stems. Why? This presents a problem when wanting to put on different tuner buttons! The two sets that I did buy, three out of the eight tuners were stripped. So I had to buy another set to begin with these things are a very poor quality and should not even be sold. I give this product zero Stars if I could!

Terrible
I received these tuning keys on August 23. Two broke on the very first tuning and then one broke about a week later. Today is September 21 and the 4th just broke. They didn't make it through one set of strings. The 5th string tuner is still functioning but it isn't very smooth. I bought these for a cheap little banjo that I have. Do not buy these. Buy anything else. The cheapest guitar style tuners that I've bought, and I've bought some cheap ones, are light years ahead of these. Violin style friction tuners would also be a huge improvement over these. I bought them because I liked the looks and they were cheap. They are terrible. The only reason they get one star is because it's the lowest rating that you can give. These are -43 stars

5th peg geared BACKWARDS !!
Well, considering this cost less than 1/4 of what I'd pay for a brand-name set, they (the 4 planetary pegs at least) aren't all that bad. I did spend a bit of time running in the gears with a hand drill to smooth out the rough spots, forcing some oil into the housings as best I could (they were woefully under-lubed), and making some leather washers to replace the tiny plastic rings. The locating pins are much too long, and I'll probably cut those down to about 1/3 of their length before installing the pegs. They should be reasonably functional and good-looking tuners. The buttons are a greyish pearloid, which I very much prefer to the common bright white ones. The worm-geared fifth peg is of similar quality to the others, but with the very odd and frustrating design flaw of being geared backwards! The string post (viewed from above) should turn the same direction as the knob is turned, but this one turns in the opposite direction. If you aren't a player, that might not seem important, but believe me, it makes the peg so counter-intuitive in function that it really is useless. At the price, it makes more sense to buy another 5th-string peg than to return the whole set.

Corn Flakes
Man the reviews were right on this purchase. I opened them up and two of them seemed to be alright but the other two sounded like the cogs inside were made out of corn flakes. Crunch, crunch, crunch and hard to turn too. I sprayed some WD40 inside them because it can fix about anything. I went ahead and installed them because they didn't cost a whole lot and I was placing them on an old beater banjo. I tried to tune my D-string and it would not hold tune and kept loosening the strings. Needless to say they went back.

Plastic Banjo Tabs but look good
Didn't like that they have so much plastic but they look asthetically really good!

broke immediatly
Bought these because I was building a mountain banjo and wanted to have a cheap option for tuners. Gears were crunching as soon as they had tension. One completely stripped and wont tighten or loosen. 5 string peg slipped a few times. Bought over a year ago and just finished the build and set it up so outside of return period.
