They are worth the investment. I have used several at various work places that were well over 3 decades old! Still working!I needed my own at home this time and went for the iron base. It’s heavy to keep it from shifting during your decorating. I like using the liner that comes with for smaller cakes that wobble too much with stiffer icing, or you can place it under the base of the turntable for extra protection against shifting.These bad boys are kinda expensive when you compare them with other types of turntables, but don’t even bother with the laminated/ball bearing/plastic turn tables. They collect so much dirt that the spin is hindered. The only good thing I like about the laminated/alternative turn tables is that they are conveniently low in height for tall work spaces.Overall, the sturdiness is rock solid and will last a lifetime. It’s easy to lubricate if it needs extra help for a seemingly flawless spin. It is tall in comparison to other turntables for easier, eye-level piping work on cakes. Lastly, I I stand by this brand and their products that I own over a dozen different products!

I’m an amateur and only do minimal cake decorating for family birthdays and seasonal events—not sure how I survived without a great cake stand??? This is heavy, rotates smoothly but not too easily, and makes every part of the process easier. Even my crumbcoats turn out more even!!Minor issue: the non-slip mat that the base sits on is ridiculously thin and traps crumbs like crazy. I’m going to try cutting a replacement out lf an old silicone mat.

This decorating stand is so sturdy. I couldn't believe the weight of the base. The spin is smooth and makes cake decorating so much easier.

This product came very quickly even arrived before I anticipated! And so easy to use my cake decorating and absolute breeze.. I like the no slip mat it was a good bonus. The weight of this table is wonderful and the spinning action is so smooth it puts the small plastic one I had previously absolutely to shame!

Bought this cake stand, heavy base and removable top, about a year or so ago. It still spins soooo smooth and no wobble. I highly recommend this stand. My only complaint is with the non-slip pad. It doesn’t stay “non-slip” for long so buy a few extras. I use double sided tape to keep it from moving on the turntable.

I was a professional pastry chef for 12 years across 6 different pastry kitchens, and the cast iron based ateco stand was used in all of them. This brand in general does pastry tools right. I purchased a similar style from Wilton, and it wobbled so much that it was not even functional. This is one of the most expensive cake turntables, but that is because you will never need to buy another one as long as you take care of it. Just avoid dropping the base on your foot!!

I bought this for my small business. Totally worth it. You don't think it could make such a big difference in frosting a cake but it does. I love mine. I put a silicone mat under it to keep it in place while using.
