Excellent new music stand!
I'm really pleased with my new music stand. I used it last night and it was just what I needed. Nice and light to carry with good case and easy to assemble. One of the musicians in the band was impressed and will order one too.

Sturdiness
Although advertised as heavy duty, it would blow over if used outside. But this means it’s light to carry and easy to assemble. The best part is the design of the top section which holds the music. The lip is wide enough to hold a thick book which is exactly what I wanted. The page holders are sturdy too. I’ve kept the packaging in case it doesn’t hold together, but I’ve used it several times so far, and all is well. A friend saw it and I’ve forwarded him a link too.

Decent bit of kit.
I use this stand a lot, and like it a lot too. Sturdy enough for most music books, but would not recommend for anything too heavy. Two friends have bought the same and both are satisfied. Very easy to assemble.

Excellent budget stand, but NOT as big as stated!
NOTE!! - The platen is *NOT* 50 cm x 35cm as stated in the product description. It is actually 43.3 cm wide and 26.0 cm high at its highest point in the centre. It is disappointing that so many items on Amazon simply do not match up to the product description these days (in my experience, anyway); but I was not surprised this time, based on recent experience, and since the stand is still quite functional & acceptable (nay good value for money) I am not returning this particular order. But the misleading description has earned 1 less star than I would have otherwise awarded.A set comprising music stand, extra music clip (15 cm long), double LED clip-on lamp (with 1 m USB cable) and carry bag is ridiculously good value for £20! However, at that price point, don’t expect quality that would cost 3 times as much. The stand is purely plastic, in order to make it lightweight and portable, but it still seems quite sturdy (albeit not as sturdy as a metal stand): the platen stays perfectly flat & rigid when pushed firmly onto its rear attachment; the tripod is solid. There are two metal clips attached to the front bottom edge of the platen which can be swivelled up as required, to hold music in place – a great bonus feature. Although the platen is only 26 cm high at most, it would happily hold a thin music book or sheet music quite safely; but I don’t feel it would cope with a thick music book or hardback book, as it might become top-heavy. It is not suitable for outdoor use either, as it doesn’t have the weight to stay upright in a breeze. I think it would have benefitted from slightly thicker/heavier tubes. The plastic screw brackets will need to be treated with respect and not over-tightened – a problem I’ve found even with metal stands, where the collars are plastic and some people approach the screw knobs as gym exercises. The stand can be used as a table-top music desk – another bonus feature. You would need to move one of the rubber feet from the tripod onto the rear ‘leg’, but that’s not a problem. When fully assembled, the music stand varies in height from just 43.5 cm (fully collapsed) to 105.0 cm (fully extended), measuring between floor & bottom edge of platen – of course, that depends a bit on how much overlap you leave between the sections of tube! I was allowing about 2.5-3 cm overlap. To pack the stand away, just slide the platen off its rear attachment and fold it in half. The tubular stand itself closes down to 52cm long. The two sections then easily fit inside the provided carry bag, together with the extra music clip and the LED lamp, with plenty of space left for other small accessories. The whole lot weighs just 1.32 kg – ideal for a small child to carry. But not ideal if said small child tends to use carry bags as footballs! The clip-on LED lamp has two heads, each with 2 bulbs. It can run off 3 AAA batteries (not supplied) or the supplied 1 m USB cable. I don’t think rechargeable batteries will recharge in situ – the base feels too lightweight to contain the necessary electronics. Each lamp head has a 3-way toggle switch on the back: 1st press = 1 bulb, 2nd press = both bulbs, 3rd press = off.Shame the platen is not as large as advertised, but I am still very pleased with my purchase, for what will be an ‘occasional use’ music stand and a very useful clip-on lamp! I must just remember not to lob things into the car boot on top of the music stand bag...

Sturdy and easily adjusted
I bought this to keep in the house for music practice and it’s perfect. It wouldn’t be so practical to transport as some others pack up smaller but might be less sturdy.
