For HP laptops this is the one
If you have an HP, I can make it easy: This one. I tried 2 of the Swiss army knife hubs (13-in-1!) first. Had to return them. This HP has only 4 ports; they all work; they all connect solidly. While charging the laptop (with the 45W charger it came with) and a phone, I can run a large monitor and an external HD from this hub. The charging is slow, mind you ... there's only 45W going in. But it works, and without, of course, triggering a popup message "recommending" an HP charger. Doing a limited number of things reliably is a tradeoff worth making.

Way too pricey.
The quality is excellent, but the price is rather high.

HDMI Does Not Work
The USB ports worked but the HDMI did not...I tried contacting HP support, but they were no help either. Anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? I would like to use Multiple Monitors. The HDMI port that comes with the laptop is used by the other monitor.

Fatal flaw?
There is a problem if your using it for charging power pass through. If the input power to this device is interrupted, even if momentary, the power will not reconnect. Your laptop is now on battery only and your laptop will shut down when the battery is exhausted.

Just what happened here?
I had such high hopes for this product to work with my HP Elite x2 1012 G1 as a pass-through charger with USB slots. But, nope the OEM charging cable won't charge when the hub is attached. Even the tiny charging light doesn't light up and the battery indicator on the desktop doesn't recognize the hub. Don't understand why since the power cable is 45W USB-C type and the hub is 90W same type. So, sending it back. So bummed.
