Perfect QUICK fix
It worked perfectly to re-cement my crown when it fell out!! It alleviated the pain and I could eat without worrying too much about it falling out again!!

Unusable
Used to be a reliable product. Now serves no function but to waste your time and money. Sets quick but tastes awful while never hardening up to be usable. Avoid like the plague.

This Stuff is a Blessing in Times of Pain
I have bad insurance so I have to wait forever for oral surgery. The general dentist has sent in my entry form. They are so backed up, say that they haven't recieved it or tell me I have to call again. Well with a huge whole in your tooth with extreme pain. There is so much antibiotic you can take and you still have to eat. That's where Dentemp comes in like a miracle fromantic pain. You have to rinse the debris out of the hole and clean it first. Then pack this in there. Make sure to pack it very tight. Thats the sure way for it to work. It can be very messy and have a medicine pasty taste. Please don't let that detour you. When you first fill your tooth the pain will be extreme. Then it will calm down and be gone. This lasts out to two weeks and a half at the most three weeks.DO NOT CHEW GUM WITH THIS!!!Pros.Stops excursiating painStops infection from coming backYoure able to eat againConsMessyBad tasteThis gets a 5 star from me because with out this I don't know what I would have done.

Doesn't stick or mold like it used to at all
I've used this product for along time. Years but now in 2024 it's absolutely useless. They say nothings changed but I guarantee something is different. Very disappointing. Lost a customer for sure

It's Nice
**I use this for filling cavities, not for caps, so that is what my review is about**Original Review:This product lasted for about one month before coming out so that was a plus especially in these hard economic times. I haven't been able to get to the dentist so this product saved me.The only issue I have is that it's disgusting. Even with brushing and rinsing, the taste is very strong. After the 3rd day the taste went away. If you follow the instructions the way they are stated, you will be fine. But you have to work fast because this stuff hardens within 1 minute. I would practice 1st if I were you.Edited Review:I wasn't clear in my initial review. Each application of the filling repair lasted 1 month (if you take it easy on the chewing) because you only need a little. You will not use the entire container in one month, but probably in 3 months or longer. It comes with 6 containers, so it will last 1-2½ years if you are lucky. In my experience, if the tooth is on the bottom, the product will last a lot longer than on a top tooth. And if the cavity is on an angle or on the side of the tooth, it won't work so good. It says to apply 1-2 hours before eating, but I always apply it at night before bed to ensure that it has hardened. I think weather and humidity may play an important role in product quality. The product is soft, but it can harden within a minute of working with it. I've also experienced mushy product. When it is loose/mushy, it only works well for a bottom tooth. I still apply it before bed and it still hardens by morning. By the way, the picture shows the actual size of the containers-they are tiny. Lastly, some people had difficulties using this product, but instead of them trying, they blame their hard time on the product. It is not the product's fault you didn't follow instructions. I breezed through this every time because I got through the learning curve and know how to use it. This is a great product when you actually try.*This review only applies if you take it easy on the chewing. If you are eating steak or chewing gum regularly, you will probably replace this often. And I guess if you go over it with an electric toothbrush, it may break up. You'll probably want to go over it with a manual toothbrush to be safe*Hint: If I have a deep cavity, I take 2 toothpicks and mash the product down in my tooth alternating between the toothpicks back and forth. Mash down with #1, mash down with #2, repeat until it is tightly filled etc...Edit #2:It's been 10 years, got another cavity & immediately thought to buy this! It worked the same but the applicator tool has been upgraded. I no longer need to use the toothpick method because the applicator tool now has a small round end that's used to tamp the Dentemp into place. Worked great & lifesaver before my dental appt. Still recommend!

Tips from a professional
Want to use this and have it work well? Here are a few tips:1. Dry the area. Put cotton gauze rolls on either side of the tooth in question to stop saliva and breathe through the mouth to dry the tooth. If you're reattaching a crown, be sure the inside is dry.2. Apply the cement to the lost crown and immediately bite down to hold it in place until the cement starts to cure. If it's a broken tooth, don't bite down, just keep it dry and push the cement into the broken portion. It will likely hurt, but forming a seal is important.3. You can apply orajel, clove oil, etc to the exposed nerves if needed. Just make sure it's dry or cleaned off before applying the cement.4. Enjoy the fact that your life is a little less miserable until you can get to a dentist.

Does work!
Okay, lost a huge filling in a back molar. The first attempts failed miserably to fill the whole. I tried to trim off excess too quickly. But finally, I figured out to put the ball of dentemp in place and close my mouth. Do not worry at this point in trimming. The parts that needed to be removed fell off by themselves. Do not mess with it for a good hour. In fact, don’t pick it. In a few hours, it will harden. Even chewing gum over the tooth doesn't dislodge. Worth it!

I give Dentemp an F
OK this was really bad. First off, when I put it in it tasted horrible, very similar to the zinc oxide powder I tried to use recently to make my own fillings only to realize afterward that the package said FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Is Dentemp using the wrong kind of zinc oxide? Also the package says to rinse thoroughly after placing the filling, I did that and the filling immediately FELL OUT! The second time I tried to place a filling I tried not rinsing afterward, after a few minutes I couldn't take it any more and had to. The inside of my cheek near the tooth with the filling and my tongue felt really strange, and from what I researched after my experience with the other ZO this is a symptom of ZINC OXIDE POISONING! Also, I don't know how they figure this little package has 12+ fillings in it, I used it twice and it's almost gone. Maybe it's 12 if the fillings you're trying to replace are tiny, mine is pretty big.The box I got had six of these little packages in it, I'm kind of scared to use them now. DO NOT BUY THIS!
