Works well for simply trimming - have not used it for mats
I just needed a non-electric shaver for my anxious little 5lb chihuahua to do a quick trim around his head and neck. I probably would NOT use it on my long haired cat with mats as it is not very sturdy and would probably pull before actually cutting through the mats. However, it's exactly what I needed for my tiny dog because he squeals whenever the electric clippers get near him.

You get what you pay for ,I guess
Everything about this is cheap . The blades are flimsy , paper thin and ypu can bend the blades with ypur fingers using minimal force . They bended too while I tried to thin out my hair .I tried changing the blade to a good one I have from a box cutter but it doesn't fit . So this is useless. Save ypur moneyBlades aren't sharp either .

Cat hair Knot razor
Very flimsy comb structure, but it does work to trim cat hair with small strokes keeping a firm grip on the razor comb.

Different
For me it might be just my animals but it didn't work whatsoever. It is made well and it's very durable but other than that no I wouldn't buy it again because it just didn't do it for me. But like I said you might want to try it. It depends. I have long haired dogs and long haired cats and short ones too. Short hair, cats and dogs but it just didn't work at all on them

sharp- don't press down hard
It is ver sharpens you can trim too close. Best to go slow the first few times until you are experienced/

Not Tough enough
I purchased this to get rid of mats on my GSD. The blade that came with it wasn't sharp/strong enough to do a good job. Replaced with a regular razor blade and it worked great. The design of the comb is just as I expected, the blade just wasn't enough.

I felt like I am mis-leading the reader of this review by giving this item even one star! It's been a long long time since I was so disgusted with something I ordered online. Really. Truly. A piece of crap item. Flimsy, I thought it would break just running it over my short-hair cat! And the razor blades are paper thin. Amazing, worse than something you buy at the dollar store. Hate it. Sending it back.
