I have a fair amount of very fine, bra length hair that I have box dye colored dark brown since my mid-teens (started going gray at 12 thanks to genetics) and wanted to go blonde because I was sick of coloring my roots every 2-3 weeks. My wonderful hairstylist took on the task and we went in steps two weeks apart because my hair is fine. Step one went perfectly, step two not so much. I had a lot of breakage and was worried I had destroyed my hair with this decision. My aunt, also a stylist but old school, suggested cholesterol treatment with a heat cap. I ordered both immediately and did the treatment as soon as I received the package. When I tell you this saved my hair, I mean it. Yes, it stinks. My hair smelled like motor oil for three days. But I felt such relief when I could comb my hair again and it wasn't breaking at all. I did the treatment twice. This, coupled with the Redken Extreme Bleach Recovery system, get the credit for salvaging my hair and, while my hair is much thinner as a result of the bleaching sessions (It will grow back), I still have long blonde (!) hair that appears healthy and shiny.

This is NOT your standard hair treatment...it's more like a rinse. I have very fine, thin colored hair which loses volume when I use regular conditioner because the conditioner softens it, making it silky but flat. All good and fine if that's your goal! I want volume, and my hair is very healthy despite the color and fineness, so this cream is perfect for me. I use a huge glob and leave it on for a few minutes. Even so, it just barely coats my hair, making it just a teeny-tiny bit softer/conditioned but without ANY volume loss. Plus I absolutely LOVE the smell, which is more musky-ish than fruity-ish (I can see how some people might not like it, but I think it's awesome). BTW, I think this might be made for African-American hair...which is not me, so maybe that's why it works the way it does...? Anyway, it's the only thing I use now (except after coloring, when is the one time I use a regular conditioner). The only negative thing I can say is that the container isn't big hand friendly... when I have to "scrape the bottom" I've actually cut myself on the plastic edge. Guess you could use a spoon...but who remembers to bring a spoon in the shower?!?

I have used cholesterol on my very dry, naturally wavy, prone to frizzing in high-humidity environments hair.Cholesterol is a must-have, or an equivalent for very dry, post-menopausal, dry hair. The secret is to leave it on washed hair for at least 30 minutes. The longer you leave it on your hair, the better it works.

Best stuff my mom used it on my hair and I use it now too. Highly recommended

Queen Helene conditioning Cholesterol cream has been around for many years. I used it as a teenager and recently went back to it as now that I dye my hair the texture has become very dry. This conditioner really works to give back softness and shine. It is now improved even improved with the addition of Argan Oil!!

This product is not like the product I used to use. This product was so hard when I was trying to get it out of the container to condition my hair. I had to add olive oil to this product and used a spoon to softened it up. Did little to softened it up. Will not purchase again.
