SharpWizard OZ-590A Electronic Organizer

Sharp Wizard OZ-590A Electronic Organizer is old technology. I wanted the Sharp Wizard OZ-590A Electronic Organizer to work with todays computers which by the way thet do not. The screen did not get dark enough and was hard to see whether in shade, sunlight, indoors, and any time. Even with the back light on. If I would have found a way to get my computer to sync to the Sharp Wizard OZ-590A Electronic Organizer. I would have tried Sharp Wizard OZ-590A Electronic Organizer. The organizer would have worked well for my needs. A smart phone is hard to work with for my needs.

I am a busy pastor who constantly changes hats and needed a better system to stay organized. The Sharp OZ-590A did the job.The calendar allows you to schedule appointments. By writing the appointment time for 15 mintues before the acutal appointment and setting the alarm beeper, it is a great reminder. It has a clock, and lets you write "to do" lists. The enclosed softward makes it easy to synchronize Sharp OZ-590A with Microsoft Outlook. You can write a list of addresses and phone numbers with the mini-keyboard on the Sharp OZ-590A or using your computer with Microsoft Outlook. By connecting the Sharp OZ with the enclosed cable to your computer, the two will synchronize one another. If you have a Mac, I do not think this would work.The only drawback is that sometimes after synchronizing it freezes up; this is remedied by removing and then replacing the battery. It takes a second. Then you have to check to the clock. If you do not do this quickly, you might have to reset it.This really does the job for me. It is smaller than palm pilots.It's great to have all the addresses and phone numbers you want on your person, to be able to schedule appointments and set reminders. This is a good deal. The used, reconditioned version is even a better deal if they are still available.

With backlight on and contrast set to max - sitting next to a 40w lamp - menus are unreadable. Yes, I tried a new battery. So far, Sharp support for this product is ... er ... elusive. No menuie, no usey. I'm PO'd.

I had one of the original Sharp organizers 15 or so years ago and liked it, found it very useful. Thus I bought this personal organizer as an inexpensive alternative to a palm pilot to use just as a calendar, making use of its scheduling function. And it is just that - a "cheap" alternative; For the price, it is great; however, I am disappointed in its display of daily and weekly schedule items. It isn't as easy to view/keep straight appointments as I would have hoped for. It is acceptable/useable, but could easily be better. However, I don't know that I should have expected much more for just $40+, compared to $100 or more for a true PDA. I also find it easier to input my appointments using Microsoft Calendar on my computer and just sync-ing the organizer, rather than inputing directly into the organizer. I don't use much of the other functions, though available - seem ok.

THIS ITEM WAS QUITE A DISAPPOINTMENT. THERE ARE TOO MANY THINGS GOING ON.FIRST OFF THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE TOO VAGUE - AND HALF THE TIME THEY DO NOT FUNCTION.THE SCREEN ITSELF IS SO MONOTONE THAT YOU CANNOT GET A CLEAR DEFINED LOOK AT WHAT IS ON IT.FUNCTIONALITY IS NOT GOOD.............I USED IT ONCE AFTER IT TOOK 3 HOURS TO GET IT SET UP. EVEN THEN IT DID NOT REGISTER EVERYTHING.IT WAS A WASTE OF MY MONEY AND I WILL NOT USE IT. GETS PUT IN A GARAGE SALE SOMEWHERE.

This organizer does not have that fancy stuff like "blue tooth" or "wi-fi". Just an organizer. But I like it. It has all I need: telephone directory, memo section, clock with alarm, calendar, finance, even small games, and much more. The most important - the organizer can be connected to computer; it does not require much to connect, but works perfectly, - I never had any problems. The telephone directory, memo, and so on can be saved and edited directly using computer programs like Excel. The only negative thing I would like to mention: it has unnecessary thing like english-spanish dictionary (useless for me), and the spell checker is very weak and cannot be install without that dictionary. Otherwise the organizer is really good.

Our first order of the Sharp Organizer we believe was stolen at our mail box and the USPS says they cannot help. I ordered a second one and it was non functioning and cannot be returned as they are not sold anymore. So I have lost $150.00 and have no options. It makes me very wary of ordering items from outside vendors. My overall rating would be zero!
