CURT 45810 Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, 2-Inch Receivers, 7,500 lbs, 1-Inch Hole, 2-In Drop, Black

I've purchased Curt products before and have always been happy with their quality. That is the main reason I chose this brand, even this item was slightly more expensive than similar products. This seems well made. I purchased this mainly for the upper receiver for a trailer winch that will be used for light-duty work getting things onto my trailer. If I encounter any issues, I will update review.

Good quality welds & paint

Excluding the design, this is a great quality hitch. I'm giving it 4 stars due to its design which prevents latching the lower hitch when an accessory hitch is attached. You have to first latch the lower hitch and then install the accessory (upper) hitch. If the accessory hitch was taller, this wouldn't be an issue.

The only way I see this working is hook up trailer before installing your bike rack.Make sure your trailer tongue is LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE COMPLE 90 DEGREE TURNS LEFT AND RIGHT. use a tape measure and pray you understand the geometry. Make a mistake and damage will certainly result. You have been warned. Otherwise, it's a solid product if you are using it for something else.

This trailer hitch draw bar is just what I needed. It is rated at 7000 lbs. towing capacity and allows me to tow my boat trailer and mount my bicycle rack at the same time. An added plus is I can still open the tailgate of my truck with the Curt draw bar still in place. So, I can still access gear in my truck bed with the Curt draw bar in place.

My only disappointment is that I haven’t gotten a picture of it with the 12K winch & trailer both hitched to show that it’s absolutely perfect for what we wanted. I’ll try to remember to do that next time it’s in use. We don’t leave the winch hitched for hoots & hollers now though, we drag it out for use & put it back in the bed of the truck when done dragging the vehicle onto the trailer. But this hitch mount couldn’t have been better for our personal use.

The design of this mount is flawed. When a bicycle rack is installed in the top receiver, it is not possible to connect a trailer hitch to the ball attached in the lower mount. You must remove the bicycle rack in order to connect/disconnect the trailer. The upper receiver needs to be about 3/4" taller. I have twice attempted to contact Curt about this and they do not respond to my inquiries. This is a nice concept but useless unless it is modified.
