It really works!
My wife used to use Q-tips to clean our 2-year-old's ears (she removed some cotton to make the tips smaller). The problem was, that would push some ear wax futher into the ears.I tried this ear wax remover last night on my girl and I totally love it. It is very bright, and I could see what I was doing clearly. Definitely a 5-star product.[Updated on 6/1/2012] I have been using for two years and it is still working fine. One thing I want to add is that this whole unit is made of cheap plastic (and that's why the price is so low). After using it for a few months, the tips do not stay that tight with the main body. But, for this price, I still think it is a 5 stars product.

Good but flimsy
My seller was definitely not quick about getting the product to me, but it was worth the wait. This is the last of many ear wax removal devices I've purchased for my daughter. None of them work until this one. When I began using it right out the box I thought it was another fail, but then I realized that I could unscrew the attached part that you put in the ear & screw on a smaller one. That worked wonders. My daughter had been having problems hearing because she had impacted ear wax that I hadn't been able to remove. We pulled it all out with this thing. I couldn't believe it. It was easy to see into her small ear canal because of the light and we removed huge chunks of gunk painlessly. Sorry to be gross, but this was a definite success.UPDATE: The thing is awesome because of the light but the tiny plastic attachments break easily. You must handle them very carefully because they're quite flimsy. Thank goodness we didn't have one to crack or break while inside the ear canal. Another warning is that these little attachments have seams and can scratch the inside of the ear.

Cheap Price for Cheap Quality
Right out of the box, this item did it's job very well, it's like two instruments: a flashlight and a ear pick all in one, it has a nice bright LED light and three different interchangeable heads for different jobs and usage. But after about 5 minutes using this product, the light started to flicker, then started to dim, and then it just stopped working altogether. I tried taking it apart and putting it back together but it's too frustrating. This product is so cheaply made it's not worth trying to fix this thing. I guess my advice is to find a better quality instrument that is better built and will not falter once you try to use it more than once. This product has great potential, but it just didn't live up to it's expectation.

Love the light, but wish it was more durable.
My son has a rare genetic skin disorder (Lamellar Ichthyosis) that causes his skin cells to not shed the way they do in normal skin. The condition affects the skin in his ear canals as well. Over time, the skin, plus earwax (his tends to be dry and crumbly) can literally plug his ear canals. The cilia (tiny hairs inside the ear canal) become covered with skin and dont work to push out excess earwax.Needless to say, he has a standing appointment with an ENT every few months to have his ears regularly cleaned out and cared for. But between visits, his ENT also has us use prescription ear drops to soften the wax and skin in his ears. We found that the drops worked so well at releasing the "gunk" from the sides of his ear canal that often the ENT just needed to pull it out (instead of scraping). And often I could SEE the gunk in the outer half of his ear canal waiting to be pulled out. This lighted earwax remover is awesome for pulling it out! Other ear scoops don't allow you to see what you are doing, so I was afraid to use them in his small ears (he's only 6). I was utterly amazed at how well I could see into the ear canal and avoid hurting or damaging the canal or ear drum.I especially like the tweezer attachment, as sometimes there is a large scale of skin I can grab the edge of and pull it out without digging in there. Wax can easily be scooped out with one of the other attachments. I never journey beyond the outer half of the ear canal, I leave that to the doc with his high tech magnifier. His ENT has said: "Whatever you are doing, keep on doing it." And reduced the frequency of visits. Woohoo!Positives:The light is really bright and shows me what I need to see.The various attachments are a definite plus.Comes with batteries, ready to use.Extra attachments can be stored inside the unit (all 3 don't fit at the same time, though).Cheap enough to have a spare (or 2).Things that could be improve:The clear plastic attachments are very brittle. In fact, I've broken 2 tweezer attachments (one half of the tweezer broke off where they are joined) and I was being careful. The edges of the scoops are a little sharp, so be gentle.I would love to see a newer model with slightly flexible attachments.

Don't Judge It By Its Looks!
While browsing Amazon for stocking stuffers for my husband, I stumbled upon this "lighted earwax remover". Was quite curious after reading all the favorable reviews. And for a couple of dollars, I figured why not?! When it arrived, I was slightly disappointed as it certainly did not look like much. But after using it for the first time, I was honestly impressed! The light made it easy to see what I was doing. The large (adult) scoop allowed me to scrape a lot of goop out of my husband's ears. And the tweezer attachment let me grab and remove a large chunk of compacted wax. While rather disgusted, we were both amazed at the size and amount of all the crud I was able to pull out of his ears! Of course, I was very careful and took my time making sure I did not go too deep. Overall, this is a great little tool that is inexpensive and quite helpful!UPDATE: I must add that I sadly suffer from uncomfortable tonsil stones. And have found that the small (child) scoop attachment is perfect for dislodging them! This tool definitely offers quick relief. And it is nice to now have a "proper tool" as opposed to using some random object to dig at my tonsils!
