Excellent performance, reliability, and reasonable cost.
Replaced a recently failed pump with identical MQ3-45 (230V) after overheating, which was my mistake. Frozen lines was root cause, but pump didn't fully self-protect this time. Self-protection features have previously saved this pump several times over the year, which to me, justified the higher cost. It had been supplying pressure to two homes for 7 years. Efficiency had decreased over the years, evident when replaced with the new pump. Finding a place that will work on this pump is difficult; I sent the non-functioning pump in for repair, which may be more than a new one. These pumps do too much work to not have 230V, especially if the electric run is any distance at all.

BUYER'S BEWARE - HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
This has been a horrible, very expensive, experience from the beginning. We have terrible water pressure where we live and hence the water pressure booster pump need. We had two smaller pumps previously and when the last one quit, we thought if we went to the greater HP then it would last longer-WRONG SO FAR. We have spent in excess of $1200 and still don't have a working pump. From the beginning, when we purchased this Grundfos pump from Amazon, we were supposed to receive an option to purchase a 115V or 220V, which did not happen and when we received the pump it was 220V and we had a 115V outlet so we had to pay an electrician $300 to install the new outlet (we discovered this when the licensed plumber installed the pump and went to plug it in - paid him $400). After the electrician installed the new outlet, we plugged it in as it was ready to go since it had already been primed, it worked for 10 mins. the correct way and then after that, would not stop running. We called the plumber who came over to troubleshoot - everything was hooked up correctly. He told me that I should contact Grundfos to see if they could assist. I called the Grundfos offices only to be told that AMAZON WAS NOT AN AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTOR TO SELL THEIR PRODUCT AND, THEREFORE, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO - THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SEND A SERVICE TECHNICIAN OUT TO TROUBLESHOOT AS THEY COULD NOT WARRANTY THE PRODUCT. They informed me to go back to Amazon. I called back the plumber who came out again (additional cost to me, of course), and took all the water out of the unit, re-primed it again and we tried again....same issue. I spent 4 hours on the phone yesterday with Amazon - 4 different calls - the most frustrating experience ever! Every time I called, I was not able to talk to the person I spoke to before. On the 3rd call, I asked to speak to the highest level manager - was told he was on the phone and would call back in 30 mins to 1 hour. 2.5 hours later, no call. So, I made my 4th call....by the way all of their customer service personnel have the last initial "P" - what does that tell you! In the end, Amazon will not compensate us at all for all of the extra expense for the plumber even though THEY ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO SELL THIS PRODUCT AND HAVE REMOVED IT FROM THEIR SITE but they will be able to send us another pump (only 1 more left - and at our expense of course). In order not to incur paying the plumber twice more, to take out the old and then install the new pump, we would have to put out the additional $640 for the new pump and when it arrives, the plumber can come out and take the old one out and put the new one in all at the same time and then we can send the old pump back to get our refund on that pump - THEY WOULD NOT EVEN DISCOUNT THE PRICE OF THE NEW PUMP! ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! If we had not put so much money into this already, we would have just given up! After this new pump is installed, if it does not work properly we will send back and won't buy another one. I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER OF AMAZON FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I WILL NEVER BUY FROM AMAZON AGAIN AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. BUYER'S BEWARE!

overheating
The pump is very powerful and but it cuts off after running for a while. I've done all the trouble shooting, also called the company but to no avail. The problem may be the difference in the cycle, for the pump is a 60 cycle and my current is a 50 cycle

Good pressure pump
Pump works fine so far. It was purchased to replace an identical unit that failed after about 8 years of service. I'm not sure what caused the failure. The flow switch in the old unit had been causing constant operation, so I just disconnected it. The unit operated fine for a year or so, just taking a few extra seconds to start when flow started. I obtained a new flow switch and installed it, causing a little water to drain down into the main casing, This seemed to drain out OK, and the unit ran OK for a while, but after a few days started to run slowly, and then almost seized up. I don't really know what caused this because the motor is sealed and the feed water is very clean and comes in with about 12 lbs pressure. Anyway, I had had enough, and just bought a new pump, which installed easily and seems to work fine. Time will tell. By the way, the installation manual that came with the new pump is excellent. Very informative.

sensitive
I really wanted to give this pump 5 stars. When it works properly, it is five stars. When it works but not properly, it's a nightmare. I'm on my second one, the first having lasted about 8 years. The second is just over one year old and already a problem.Obviously, the reason one buys this pump over others is the steady, on-demand water pressure. Unfortunately, these pumps are highly sensitive and, although I'm not qualified to say, I think most of the problems are electronic. The greater misfortune is that there are no Grundfos experts on the Big Island of Hawaii, so one takes one's chances via DIY or one of a handful of plumbers who said they maybe worked on one sometime in their career.I'd say the ticket to satisfaction is to search for a qualified repair person in your area who will make service calls before buying this pump.

Works well.. lasted the longest.
Using this pump to pressurize a home system off of a water storage tank. Works well. Easy to install and seems to be very efficient. Replaced a scalea2 pump that only lasted 15 months.Update 10/2/2024.. The pump has been working great, but developed a slow leak internal to the pump. Fortunately, I had a backup identical pump to install. I plan to refurbish the original and have it on hand. Unfortunately this pump is no longer available new. Because it lasted the longest of any pump I've had in the application.
