easy to assemble,great size ,easy to clean. the appearance of the cage is great quality ,it came with a few scratches but nothing crazy. feels very safe and secure would recommend !!

If you’re thinking of buying this, do it! I was really on the fence because of some of the other reviews, however I’m so glad I trusted my instincts and went ahead because it’s awesome.So much space and it looks lovely too. Great value for money.It’s not perfect - there is a gap at the back as others have said, however we used the top shelf to cover the gap up and attach the base to the unit. We aren’t using the top shelf further up as we don’t our hamster to fall and hurt himself. There aren’t pre-drilled holes but this was easy enough to navigate myself and the only other drawback is there isn’t a latch for the top of the cage, so we will be adding our own.However- if you’re looking for a nice roomy cage that looks good too then this is great.PS - we know we don’t have enough bedding in the cage in the picture, we ran out and needed to go buy more!

The media could not be loaded. Coming from someone who has done a lot of research on hamster care. This cage provides me with mixed opinions. It’s a very good size with over 1000 sq inches of floor space but should not be used with the platforms as this restricts how much bedding you can use and how large of a wheel can fit. My female Syrian hamster took a dislike to her IKEA Defolf so I thought I’d buy this cage regardless of the negative reviews I’ve seen.I’m not disappointed with the product but do think a few things could be improved: there is a gap at the back of the cage which can be seen in other reviews but this doesn’t bother me too much as it can only be escaped out of if chewed which would only happen because of the lack of enrichment or if you have a chewy rodent such as a gerbil.I fixed this problem using cardboard & covering up the gap but will be checking on it regularly out of pure paranoia. Assembly of the cage is okay but seemed a bit dodgy as one of the platforms was actually mouldy, it’s a good thing I didn’t use that. The lid had red marks over it from a pen and was from someone labelling it. The Lid also doesn’t fully match up but that doesn’t bother me too much is it still works and does its job. I’d say the genera cage is overpriced but hamster cages on the market all are for what they are. I think it should be cheaper however I’m not going to argue with the price as the delivery was amazing. Amazon said to expect it on Thursday when I ordered on the Sunday but instead it arrived on the Tuesday morning. I was a little annoyed as the dimensions didn’t meet my final product and I ordered a platform which was 21 cm long with a 30 cm wheel on top and it said the internal dimensions were 55 cm however the wheel and platform did not fit so I had to make other plans. As for the drawer at the bottom, it is an absolute nightmare, if it was up to me I would take it out completely and just have the base solid. It doesn’t work and cannot be used for hamsters or any burrowing animals intentionally for purpose as it is completely unsuitable (they need over 6 inches of bedding). I took advantage of not using the shelves and use the extra screws for securing the base in place until I felt confident and happy with it. I’d rate this cage 7 out of 10 because it could be improved but it’s best for us on the market at the moment on Amazon and for a semi affordable price!Although I’m rambling with this review, if you’re paranoid about your little friend in this enclosure I wouldn’t worry about it. With enough DIY and fixing it yourself it could be an amazing little enclosure and an easy to do DIY project. The gap at the back can be fixed with some of the wood supplies from the platforms that you shouldn’t use and if you’re worried about animals chewing, the entire thing can be covered in a wood coater and a couple coats of paint (just make sure this is safe for animals obviously…)Hope this helped!

Good size, quality, easy to build.

Overall it is a good design. However, not everything aligns perfectly as shown in picture. It is also just raw wood so I had to buy animal safe varnish to seal the wood. It is spacious but for ideal hamster care I took the bottom level out so he can have more digging and tunnelling space. It is fairly easy to assemble just make sure you have a drill or else it’ll be harder! If you want it totally secure, buy a latch so you can actually shut the lid properly :)

Very awkward to assemble, instructions very unclear. Very sloppy woodwork and pieces that were pre made put together very poorly. Plastic at the front is very flimsy and moves around in place, wouldn’t trust to keep my hamster inside. Very cheap and splintery looking wood. Definitely not worth the price, looks like anyone could make something better out of a few cheap pieces of wood
