Q: what is the in the product?

I didn't realize until you asked, no info on label anywhere. It does say to use in well vented area. I plan on using it outside on deck when I polish machines. Perhaps contact maker?

Q: Would item clean and shine the cast iron base of the sewing machine?

I used it for mine. It shined at first, and then it turned dulled. Not as dull as it was initially, though. Also, it did clean the dust and grime off.

Q: Will this product harm decals on the vintage machines?

This would depend on how oxidized the machine is. If the original top coat has worn away to the point the decals can be felt to the touch, the polish being non abrasive wouldn’t harm the decals but the friction from applying the polish could harm the decals. I would be extra careful when applying the polish over decals on a very oxidized machine where the decals are no longer protected by the original top coat

Q: Should this be used on a 1953 necchi bu nova? i don’t want to accidentally harm it.

Hello, this product is safe to use on any painted surface including lacquer vintage machine finishes!! You will be pleased to know I have used it on many vintage machines including my prized Singer Feather weight 201! this is excellent for any machine including the vintage 1953 Necchi!!
