Garbage
This is trash. Two lengths of tube, two flimsy metal connectors, and a flimsy bulb that has no internal valve or anything. I tried to use this to siphon water out of a cooler well that has no drain. It was useless. The bulb just moves the fluid up and down an inch or so. It does not create any sort of suction to get the liquid moving. Absolutely trash.

Use for parts
Didn't work well. But it was cheap and hose it usable.

Worked, but dropped a star cause needed duct tape
Dropped a rating point cause the bulb kept coming off the fitting at one end, so I had to push it further up (over the stop on the fitting) and secure the whole thing with duct tape. Annoying, but not worth a return. Otherwise, the product is fine and should do what I want (which is to drain the overflow from a large planter's overflow tray). I tested it with another container at a comparable height above a bucket. Yes you have to collect below starting point and no it doesn't have a backflow valve so you have to put your finger over the drain tube's hole and squeeze, as someone mentioned, but then it flows nicely with no valve in the way nor another thing to break apart, which is what I wanted. An extra hand would help hold the feed end in place for my purpose, but I can use more tape for that. With one end in a gas tank and the other in a gas can (with permission or with intent to repay in a dire emergency), it would probably be even easier to use, maybe a tad slow cause the bulb and the tubing are smallish compared to a similar thing I had when I was a kid.

Even if you know this doesn't have a one-way-valve, dont buy it
I read the reviews and knew this didn't have a one-way-valve. I still bought it, knowing this. I assumed that it would at least work as you would expect given it doesn't have one. This turned out to be false. The metal barb fittings easily detach from the bulb and are not secured with any strength. The bulb is also very thin and weak. It can't suck much of anything. I highly recommend just going and buying something else.

Does Not suck as anticipated
2 complaints. There is no clear cut identification of which end is the sucking end, and once I figured out which end is supposed to suck, the pump ball does not have a check valve. My evaluation, this item only partially sucks. If you are looking for a siphon system which really sucks, spend a bit more and purchase something which reliably sucks.

It doesn't suck!
Normally, we do not want an item purchased from Amazon to suck. This was the exception and unfortunately, it did not suck at all. The ball used to create suction was worthless. 100% failure.

Rubber ball too flimsy not strong suction
The product is flimsy. The tubing is good but the rubber part that you squeeze is very thin and couldn't hardly suction anything. We ended up just using tubing and getting a different thing to pump with. Don't waste your money. Get a better one for a few dollars more.

empty bulb
Did not come with any sort of 1-way valve, or ball bearing. The black rubber bulb is hollow.
