Yuzen Chiyogami LARGE Set of 40 Sheets

First, yes the title of this pack is a bit misleading, but anyone that has purchased Yuzen Washi packs before would know to look for information on whether there are plain papers between each of the printed washi papers, as this is VERY commonly how these packs are done, to protect all the metallic embossing from getting rubbed off by the rough, reverse side of the washi paper. They still list the total number of papers in the pack, but these solid color washi papers are thinner and not generally a good color match for the main yuzen washi papers so while still usable for origami they do tend to be a bit of a throwaway for most buyers. In this pack, there are 10 different colors of the solid washi papers, 2 of each color. The printed papers are a decent mixture of prints, some very heavily embossed, a lot of predominantly red backgrounds but a handful of others included. I've included a photo that shows the different prints in the pack. I ordered several packs and received all the same prints in each one so this would be a good choice if you need a number of matching yuzen washi papers to make origami boxes or kusudama balls, etc.Update: I was going through my collection of various origami papers and actually found the same pack that apparently I had purchased many years ago (at least 15+ years) and the prints were all the same ones! So this definitely seems to be a product where you can count on the papers being the same if you order multiple packs.

Beautiful, vivid colors coordinate perfectly in this collection. I use these papers in card-making and love their brilliance. The finish is matte (slightly textured), the paper is thin but quite sturdy, and the designs are lovely. I've purchased other collections, but this is by far my favorite because of the intense, well-balanced colors.

I think the smell is the priners ink. Smell is very chemical and somewhat toxic - you've got to air it out before working with it. I like the bright papers and would like to order without pastel. The Paper is not high quality Japanese washi - this is more like printed bond paper. It is fine for origami and my use.I ordered a second time because it was a good value for my use. I think it must be from China not Japan. I've never had a smell from Japanese paper - but I have had this same smell from paper ordered from Hong Kong.

The paper is exquisite! It is beautiful to look at, feels amazing, and holds its shape very well!

These are so beautiful. I purchased them to use as mounting paper for a project but, once I received them, realized they're for origami use. So, I ended up learning origami! It's relaxing, and picking out a gorgeous piece of paper is fun too.

This product is misleading because the paper is not as big as it says. This paper is 6 inches square, not 6.8 inches as it said today. This product is also misleading in that yes, there are 40 sheets, but every other sheet is a cheaper, thinner, plain colored paper with no pattern on it. The plain paper is conveniently hidden in the photo. So, I paid more than I would normally pay for 20 sheets of yuzen chiyogami paper.

Usually when I buy a package of origami paper the selection of colors is predominantly one color, often red. This is a nice variety of colors and patterns.
