Mad ratchet!!!
The media could not be loaded. I work in a restaurant and we use to yell each other from corner to corner when we need something and was very ratchet, I found this walkie talkie and brought it at work and. Is we have a lot of fun, because we can insult each other so now we are worst, very tacky lol

Battery compartment is impossible to open
Received the radios when promised and in good shape. I have a concern and it is a major one. The screws on the bottom of one radio that allow access to the battery compartment can't not be open. The first battery compartment, opened without issue. But on the second the screws are in so tightly they cannot be moved.

Add these to your bug out bag or vehicle
I wanted some mics for my back up vehicle. I added these to a small bag in my 2000 suburban. I took these out to the Sierra Nevadas and was able to get good range on a hike. These are small enough to not take up a ton of room and they charge quickly. You will want to add external mics and maybe head gear to listen. overall a great pic for some external mics.

Impressive so far... a few shortcomings
I've not had a chance to test these for distance, but I've never had a set of walkie-talkies that came CLOSE to the advertised range, but since you're not really allowed to use them while driving (at least in CA) miles of range is not my goal.We use these to communicate from the house to anywhere within a block, in the forest. In this range, and in this terrain, we have not heard them drop a single syllable, and I'm amazed at how clear and static-free they are! For our use, these are fantastic. One bad thing, which costs the product an entire star rating, is the inability to disable the "roger" acknowledgement tone. It's obnoxious and louder than the speech - really annoying if there are other people around who have to hear you.Another thing to note, which is both a pro and a con: these are surprisingly light! Seriously, there's nothing to them. This is great for having to only carry around a couple of ounces on your hike, but they do not instill confidence as to their durability. They're also not loud. The volume is perfectly fine for my use, but if using in an especially noisy vehicle or loud environment, they're kind of weak. So, not perfect, but great clarity. And of course they're fun!

OK, but poor range
Testing these as a free product from the Amazon Vine program.Considerably smaller than a lot of walkie talkies, so nice and lightweight and fairly discreet.12 Mile range is a joke, especially in built up area or large office block, I would say closer to 1 mile.Outside over large distances also failed the 12 mile test, and I live on top of a hill, had a friend in a car drive away and lost signal after about 2 miles.Battery life seems good, no charging stand unfortunately.Easy to use, but for $100 I don't think they're much better than OK

Not for use if out of eyesight
We were hoping to use these camping this year. My husband and one child like to go hiking and we like to stay at campsite. We get terrible cell reception so we were hoping we could stay in touch when texting wasn't reliable. Well, that didn't happen. These were great for the 300 feet to the pool or the 15 yards to the bathhouse. But 12 miles? Not a chance. In eyesight we could always hear, but once the person was out of sight, the connection got garbled and then lost completely. Its a shame, we were really hoping this was the answer.

Not built for business...
This is a walkie talkie that looks like a business radio. The talk button feels like it is going to break or fall off at any moment. There's no way this will survive everyday business use. Spend the extra money on a reputable business radio and get something that you can rely on. Also, it's license-free because it's on a consumer frequency, so anyone savvy enough can listen and interfere with my employees talking.. I take my business information more seriously than that.

PX500 Great for Building Communications
The PX500 radios are very good and capable even in high bandwidth traffic areas.I like the system as a whole as it works seamlessly and is easy to setup and use.The 22 channels are all factory set to include privacy squelching so you should be able to find clear channels with no interference quickly and easily on one of the preset 22 channels. You can turn off the CTCSS (continuous tone coded squelch system) or DTS (digitally coded squelch) and have no privacy features at all if you wish. You can use either system but not both at the same time. The CTCSS has 38 privacy codes while the DCS has 83 privacy codes for a total of 121 privacy codes that can be selected from. Once stored in they will stay that way so don't have to reprogram it every time you turn them on and off.The VOX system has a sensitivity setting range from low 1 to high 5. I find the highest sensitivity setting of 5 to be them best most of the time. It still takes a good strong vocal announcement and the radio held within 4 inches of your mouth for it to activate. The lower sensitivities are for loud environments such as sporting, theater and the like type events. You can lock in your settings and deactivate all buttons except for the push to talk button by holding down the call/lock button for 2 seconds. The volume/on/off knob will still function. The lock status will also remain in effect even thru a power off/on cycle. This is a great way to keep both radios set the same. I would always keep it locked except for when needing to change settings. It is also good for use with beginners and those new to using the radios. The audio clarity is very good IMO. The speaker and mic are both capable. The speaker can get pretty loud so it still works in loud environments. Keep in mind these don't have a headphone jack and sometimes that is a necessity. The battery life is good. You can go all day with average use. Simply put them on the charger at night and they will be ready in the morning. The belt holster works well too. I like the design. I rarely remove the radio from the holster as it adds very little bulk. You can get to all the buttons and knobs with it in place. It also charges with the holster on or off. There really is no need to take it off, but if the clip ever breaks I guess it is good that you can get a new holster. Or perhaps Cobra will have other mounting options available. I did not see any at the time of writing this review. This is a good set of radios for your business needs. I would also be excellent for home, hiking, sporting and outdoor activities too. I really don't have any negatives to say about them. Cobra has been in the business a long time and these are pretty well perfected technologies. 5 stars.
