This was a little disappointing after reading the first book," Yetta the Yiddish Chicken." The Yiddish is not as accurate and the word for "kitten" or "cat" is used inter changeably. There are several other inaccuracies which makes it less special.

An absolutely delightful story about Beautiful Yetta, the Brooklyn chicken who escaped being holiday dinner only to become a Yiddishe Mama to a flock of green parrots, whose mamaloschen (mother language) is Spanish. Three languages, transliterations, humor, and great relationships. Trust me; this is a good one for 3 years and up.

Lots of fun to see a story in Spanish, Yiddish, and English. Clever and cute, another Pinkwater classic to enjoy!

Great book, timely delivery.

I love languages and was immediately drawn to this trilingual book.But what happened to the Yiddish transliterations? The little hen is the book should be hindl, as the Yiddish says here, not "hinel," as the transliteration reads. On one page, Bobe the grandma asks, "You speak Yiddish, chicken?" -- but the Yiddish words are reversed. On another page, the English reads, "It is a baby! Let's feed it.", but the Yiddish transliteration has the sentences in the wrong order. These kinds of mistakes are confusing when you're trying to learn a little bit of the language.Seems the book needed a better copy editor. One who speaks Yiddish!
