Great for active kids!
Great shoes. They hold up really well to children to like to play hard outside, and are also great for hiking! We live in Colorado and are a very active family, our daughter and her younger brother recently got these shoes to replace ones they grew out of. We took them to Moab right after and they wore these shoes all week and they were great for hikes, no slipping, no blisters, and they could crawl up all the rocks. Love that the bottoms have great rubber traction, and not the foam soles that a lot of kids shoes use these days. I expect these to hold up well and be able to be passed down as other Merrills have been in the past.

Great kids shoes
Great shoes my son loves. They wore well and lasted until he grew out of them. Of course, When new, they added an appreciable gain to his running top speed and increased his jumping ability. Both mandatory features for kids footwear.

Shoe is great!
These shoes held up for over a year and still looked good when I got rid of them when my son outgrew them. They were comfortable on their feet and held up to the rain and weather. Durable material. Not super light but not a heavy shoe either

Best for outdoor play
This item was a gift but I was happy with the item. They were exactly as I expected. The child purchased for only wears this brand as they are very comfortable and dry easily when wet. They are easy to put on with the velcro latch. They look very cute and last with a very hyper toddler.

Run a bit small, Velcro strap doesn’t reach all the way over for “wide”
I ordered 11W for my son. If you’re used to wearing, say New Balance wide, or even other lower profile Merrill sneakers— just know that these will fit but the Velcro strap still won’t close all the way. These are my second pair for my son since he outgrew the last and same issue between sizes (9 last year, and 11 now). He’s really a 10 but recommend sizing up to fit the wool socks- they run a little small. They’re stiff and he can’t get them on himself (3 year old) so keep that in mind for independent kids. We haven’t worn them out yet but did want to share the sizing help. Wish the Velcro strap was longer. Gave 4 stars but really because there’s nothing else out there on the market for wide foot kids.

Great shoe at a great price!
Merrels for under $30. Can’t beat that deal! Kid loved the fit and comfort of these sneakers. They were true to the sizing guide. Great traction and withstand the activities of a kindergartener in mud/water/grass.

Great tread
I love that the tread helps my toddler not slip on the ground while he's running and riding his bike. Very sturdy and well made. Will definitely be able to save these and use them for our second child so I think they're well with the price. Sort of tough to get on and clunky at first so it takes some time for the kids to get used to walking in them.

Disappointed with Quality – Falling Apart After Barely a Month
I purchased a pair of Merrell shoes for my 7-year-old on March 28, 2025, and I’m extremely disappointed with how quickly they’ve started to fall apart. They are barely over a month old, and already showing serious wear that I wouldn’t expect even after several months of daily use.My child is active, yes—but he has multiple pairs of shoes and these haven’t been worn every single day. That said, even if they had been worn daily, I would still expect much higher durability from a brand like Merrell. Kids' shoes should be made to withstand active use, and these clearly haven’t held up.This isn’t a case of a defect that I’d contact the manufacturer about—this is just poor quality. I’ve been a loyal customer in the past, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be buying Merrell shoes again. I’m honestly shocked and disappointed. If you have an active child like mine, I would strongly recommend looking at other brands until Merrell improves their durability. This level of wear after a month is unacceptable.
