Very easy to set up and use
This is the first NAS that I have set up myself. The install and set up process really couldn't have been easier.Adding or removing disks to the drive bays is very easy. There are no screws needed which reduces the amount of faffing about. The web based user interface is also very easy to use. Setting up the drives into a raid array was very easy following the step by step processes. The online documentation for the product was also very easy to follow.I like the fact that it's extensible with additional storage if needed. So there's some future-proofing.I added 16GB of RAM to the unit myself. This was also a simple process and I think that it improved the responsiveness of the unit. Well worth spending a couple of extra Euros that it took.Would recommend for any small business or home user.

Great product, as long you dont need VMS
The OS is easy to use, very well built and quiet.Just be warned this model cannot use Virtualization Station so you can only run terminal based apps no vms.

Check the compatibility list before buying.
My RAID 6 failed 2 times, lost 30TB data, Disks keep randomly disconnecting with an 'NCQ disabled. Timeout error.'. Although I think the enclosure was faulty, Qnap support refused to address the issue as the HDD and SSD were not listed on the compatibility list. According to QNAP support, many hard drives are not supported in this enclosure as its running on an ARM processor.

Great Product at a good price. Need to upgrade the RAM though
Great Product at a good price. Need to upgrade the RAM though, remember to factor in the cost for 16GB ram.

Excellent for the price. Recommended
I'm really pleased with this product. I bought the 2Gig RAM version and upgraded the RAM to 8Gig (easy upgrade to do). I'm running it with 5 x 3TB WD Red drives in RAID 6 and 4 x Crucial MX300 SSDs in RAID 10 set to auto tiered mode.I have it connected to a 10GBe switch on 2 different VLANS. one for ISCSI used by my hypervisor cluster and the other for SMB/NFS file sharing for PCs/devices on my network.I'm very happy with it for the use I'm putting it to. The QNAP NAS OS is powerful and easy to use with simple web configuration. It did take many hours to initialize the RAID 6 array on the WD RED drive. No idea whether a NAS with a higher powered CPU would've done this quicker or not. However, once it is initialized the access and read/write speed are more than adequate for my use as shared ISCSI storage for a 2 server hypervisor cluster and for file share access. The apps are pretty good too. I'm using one to auto backup the NAS to Amazon S3 and to 2-way sync to Microsoft OneDrive.I doubt whether this would be good as a PLEX server. Although the app is available and I'm pretty sure it would stream well, I think transcoding would be very slow. For the price, this is an excellent product and perfect for my use. You may need to consider a higher spec x86 based model though if you want to use it as a virtualization platform or for video transcoding. That said, the ARM CPU is very power efficient and the NAS draws very little electricity which is nice. Not had to use QNAP tech support so no idea if they're any good or not.4 stars rather than 5 as it can take a while to boot/reboot and there is no progress indicator. It does use a voice prompt to say when it is ready though. Would have got 5 stars if it had a LCD display for progress/system messages.
