I believe it will fit 2001-2004. My application was on a 2002.

Yes! I installed one of the 38770-MCA-305 units bought via Amazon, $300 with shippingin my 2001 GL1800A, couple of hundred miles back and it works like the original. Notethis is not the latest ECM from Honda. It is the unit used during the overheat issue recall.The latest numbered unit, last I checked, was on back order with no availability date, andit cost about $860 full price. The 305 unit is a good buy and I believe you will find it works good as the original, maybe better. Be advised, instillation is a bitch! Took meabout three hours with the service manual. A good Honda mechanic can do it in about twohours.

Q: Will this unit work on 2005 GL1800 ?

I believe the 2005 uses a different version. This one has 3 connectors and I believe the 2005's have either 2 or 4.

Q: i have a 1800 2004. the part # on mine is 38770-mca-a21. what is the difference between the two? will everything work the same? thanks

The ECM being sold via Amazon, Part # 38770-MCA-305, is the unit provided as part of the overheat issue recall. It has slightly different programing for low speed engine operation to delay overheating at low speed, about 15 mph. Other than that it performs like the original unit. I now have about 700 miles on my 2001 GL1800A since I installed # 38770-MCA-305 and can't tell any difference in performance. The bike runs great. I believe it will work fine in your 2004.
