lol can hear your frustration the ingredients on pack reads as : sodium palmate,sodium palm kemelate, aqua ,m-cresol, p- cresol, Parfum, Glycerine, sodium chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA ,Tetrasodium Editronate , Linalool, Limonene, Cl11680, Ci12490. I remember my nana using this soap 50 years ago and it smell now as it did then it does say on box that it is carbolic and it certainly smells like carbolic, carbolic is an acid but its proper name is not known to me you would have to look up the ingredients to know for sure ,just be careful using it with bare hand as its murder on the fingernails if you use it often it makes them really thin and easy breakable so advise gloves when cleaning hope this helps good hunting Ellie Mcg
