AMAZING BOX SET!!!!
what an amazing box set this label put out, without a doubt this is by far the BEST SMALL FACES COLLECTION i own in cd format. after all these years i did not think there was enough interest in the small faces to sanction a box set of this caliber, considering the music on here is between 45 and 48 years old it sure stands the test of time and is by far much better then what rock bands have been putting out since the late 1980s, this is timeless music so to say, regardless i have all the small faces cd reissues from japan in papersleeve replica lp format and they look and sound awesome especially with all the bonus tracks, i also own 2 other small faces box sets but they dont come near as nice as this one and last i CANT say everything the small faces ever recorded is in this box set BUT still THIS IS THE NICEST ONE!!!!!!! now down to the product, the box itself is 9 by 9 inches and it includes the 4 remastered cds wich sound flawless i would say they sound as good as the japan ones do, the coffee table book that comes with this has some photos i have never seen before and is a lovely book with loads of unbelivable photos that will take you back to swinging london in the mid to late 60s and the whole mod scene that the who and the small faces basically dominated ( there where hundreds of other mod acts out of the uk in the 60s but the who and the small faces where the biggest) the replica viynl 45s here are just amazing they are the best next thing to owning the original ones wich are very very hard to find in new condition like these, this comes with an awesome foward by pete townshend regarding the band and tours they did together, also you get some really nice stickers and postcards here, also a replica poster, a replica press kit from ogdens, the viynl on the 45s are color by the way, also facesmile posters, a lyric booklet, a track by track guide, really nice art prints, and a bit more memorabilia, also some of these olympic studio tracks have been remastered for the first time ever and some on cd for the first time, the first 2 cds are remastered single A&BS. oh and the last thing is this comes with a newly signed certificate signed by both kenny jones and ian McLAGAN, it sure must have been time consuming considering i dont know how many of these box sets where pressed but i would not put it at more then 750 ( just a guess) also i must add that i own many box sets and i will say this sure is one of the nicest ones and the work that was put into this is unbelivable in this day and age of downloading, this is one of my nicest box sets i will say for sure. i can only hope a box set this nice is done for THE WHO in the near future say for there 50th this year??????? anyway i know this requires deep pockets but if this band meant that much to you at any time in the past 45 years then i would make the investment in this becouse as i stated this is one of the nicest box sets out there with a lot of passion and love for the band that was all put into this, very well done and of coarse as i said the MUSIC IS TIMELESS..................................

Long agos and worlds apart
I am the target audience for this new Boxed set. I haven’t gone through half of what is packed into this box and I already consider it money well spent. If you are not already familiar with the Small Faces, start somewhere else. As previously suggested, The Darlings of Wapping Wharf Laundrette is a good compilation. I just did a search on Amazon, and many of the old CDs are fetching crazy collector prices. There are an absurd number of greatest hits compilations to choose from. At least download a few MP3’s. You should know this band.If you have not yet exhausted the SF regular catalog, the recent reissues sound great and the older cds they replaced can usually be found cheap. I prefer the more psychedelic sound of the later immediate records. Ogden’s is essential.Any one of the SF studio albums that you don’t yet own is a better deal than this new boxed set. Anyone buying this set for the SF greatest hits will probably be disappointed by the odd selection.Tell me, have you ever SEEN them? Small Faces All Or Nothing is a great DVD. Seeing them perform the second side of Ogden’s is a better deal than this boxed set.Done all that? Know What happened next? The Faces and Humble Pie. All of the faces albums and most of Humble Pie are a better deal than this boxed set.Have you read Mac’s book? “All The Rage”? On the road with the Small Faces, the Faces, and the Rolling Stones. The wife that kept him grounded through all the craziness. The wife he says goodbye to on his “Never Say Never” album. The single most moving song associated with the small faces, and a better deal than this boxed set.Heard Ronnie Lane’s Slim Chance? Several more albums worth of great stuff. The journey through the back catalog of FS associated music will take many moons, normal people will not feel something is missing if they don’t have it all. I have passionately collected Small Faces music since I first heard them in the 70’s. I have been through a lot of record stores on both sides of the Atlantic, and it has probably been about a decade since I last discovered something from the original band which I had never heard before. I am the target market for this box set.If you are going to feel cheated if the sound quality is a bit odd on some songs, or if several out-takes end abruptly, save yourself some aggravation. If you would gladly pay through the nose to be a fly on the wall as these amazing songs evolved in the studio, you may enjoy these recordings as much as I did.$140 seems like they are asking for a pretty big bite out of my sandwich for four CDs. When it arrived, the package looked and felt like I had bought a cinderblock from Amazon. Nothing about this package looks, feels or sounds cheap. I felt a little bit guilty opening the cellophane on such a collectors item, but I’m not buying a second box to sit on the shelf.

Overpriced collection of remixes and fragments but some great stuff here
This set is a collection of previously released tracks with about 2 cd's worth of previously unreleased studio session tapes, rehearsals and multitrack remixes of a handful of songs. There are only a handful of newly remixed stereo songs in a 'completed' state but a couple of these are stunners (Wham Bam and Donkey Rides), other remixes are different but not essential. There are a also a couple of alternate mixes that only appeared previously on rare CD and vinyl comps (Lazy Sunday from an obscure UK comp CD of the same name and at long last a very rare alternate stereo mix of Get YourSelf Together - not unreleased as indicated but was issued on an obscure US Vee-Jay lp in the 70's). Of the fragments, backing tracks and rehearsals, some very interesting stuff: my favorites are a great stereo backing track of I Can't Make It which shows you how poor the official mono 45 mix is and a long rehearsal instrumental version of Wham Bam that rocks like hell. Once again the chance to reissue one of the most coveted rare tracks (Green Circles -USA mix from master tape) was skipped once again. The other parts of this package (including the French EP's, the posters, the lyric book with two tone colors that ruin a lot of great photos) are just useless filler. The 'Mystery' 45 is just Something I Want To Tell You with a different vocal. The main book text however is great. Overall this is a highly enjoyable set and the sound quality and mastering is superb but the best of the 'new' stuff could easily have fit on one cd for a fraction of the price.

TOP MARKS, IT'S CLASSY
Well, chances are you know all about the contents, so all I shall say is; quite excellent. Everything about the stylish box set oozes class, it is hard to find fault. The one disappointment was the way the set was posted. In nothing more than a brown paper bag. I was naturally astonished.

What an Album; What a Band!
I put off buying this box set for years due to the price, but as it was almost sold out I changed my mind and I'm glad that I did. The collection is superb, with sound that is as clear as a bell, which enhances the music as it allows much more detail through, unlike some recordings that sound worse when remastered. If you're a fan, then this collection is a must-have.

Expensive but worth every penny.
This new box set pretty much contains every version of every song recorded by the Small Faces during their Intermediate years i.e. in their best period. It is expensive but the music and the extras make it well worth it as the Small Faces are among the very greatest and most influential of British bands.
