Uniden R3 Extreme Long Range Radar Laser Detector GPS, 360 Degree, DSP, Voice Alert (Renewed)

I've had radar detectors in the past and currently was still using an old Whistler 1743 that I bought years ago. I decided to try this Uniden R3 after watching some Vortex Radar videos online. Let me tell you, this thing is amazing! It alerts for police running radar literally before I can see them with the naked eye! In one instance it alerted on Ka band while I was driving up a long 4-lane roadway going uphill for an officer sitting down the other side of the hill! How does it do that?? This thing is worth it's weight in gold. Make sure you do the firmware update as soon as you take it out of the box.

This is probably the best radar detector for the price. been using it for the past year. the mute button really helps. there’s so many modes a don setting it’s awesome. i just figured out the you can change the color of the screen, looks so much better now

I was hesitant at first to purchase a refurbished radar detector, but I was very impressed upon receiving my order. It could pass as brand new if it wasn’t for the warranty disclaimer that came in the box. I only returned it because I realized I preferred having directional arrows so I upgraded to the R7(couldn’t find a refurbished one unfortunately), but could not recommend this enough if the arrows aren’t important to you.

I’ve had mine for over four years now. I have only been pulled over once with it and that’s cuz I was hit with laser. The backlight went out on the display and I had to send it in to get fixed. Within a week I got a speeding ticket. To use to driving with it. Taking a little longer than I’d like to get it back from uniden so in the meantime I bought a “renewed” one. I do all highway driving for work and this thing will pick up ka band from like 3-4 miles out depending on how much of a straight shot it is. For the price I think it’s totally worth it. Hasn’t let me down yet. Once you start driving with it for awhile you’ll be able to figure out what’s a false alert and what’s actually a cop. I really don’t see the need to spend $600-$800 on detectors that are directional. Soon as it picks up ka just slow down and you’ll be good. Like I said earlier, I’ve had it for four years in my Subaru sti and never got a ticket. As soon as I had to send it in I get a ticket for speeding in my accord. I hate not having it now, way to use to driving with it and having that added protection against police. The “renewed” one I just bought will be here tomorrow thank god. Just wish I would have bought it sooner to avoid this last ticket.

I use this to identify speed traps, cameras, lasers well before getting caught - it is easy to setup and the firmware update procedure is very easy to accomplish. I find myself driving at or slightly below speed limits easy to do with this device since it has gps and displays my current speed.

Does what it’s designed to do

Nothing to dislike. It has all the usual features expected these days in an electronic device that fits in your palm. It costs a bit more than the R3, but you get your money's worth with even more sensitivity and auto GPS lockout of nuisance signals. If you don't need directional arrows and/or don't want to spend $900, spend half of that amount and get this one. It's at least as sensitive to trace radiation as detectors costing twice as much.
