Vermont American 14607 Shank Brad Point Drill Bit, 1/2-Inch by 5/16-Inch

Just bad luck for me, I guess ... This drill bit was placed into a drill press so I could visually see the wobble of about 1/8 inch at the tip. As a result it vibrated my work piece and tore a jagged hole. Good thing I used practice wood for the first try of this brand new bit. Look elsewhere.

Mine was defective. It wobbled 1/8" in drill press or hand drill. I felt like I was operating a jack hammer or hammer drill!Amazon made it right with a replacement, and the second bit worked fine.I'm actually not sure what you'll receive, because QC is not perfect at Vermont American these days.

Worked very well to drill hole in steel door. Never overheated and stayed sharp after 15 minutes of solid drilling. Starter tip kept drill in place.Great quality for the price.

This bit is very straight, which I why I purchased it to replace another, more expensive, bit that arrived warped and wobbly. The bit is made in China but I have not had any reason to complain with its quality. Arrived sharp and straight. The double fluting does help reduce heat as well.

I have used this bit several times. It is sharp, well-made and accurate, due to the brad point. It is well worth the price.

This bit does an excellent job boring holes for game calls. I am very pleased with the purchase.
