As a homeschooling mom of 4 this is one of the better programs I have found to use- especially with the kiddos that need an extra little help:). Love the approach to learning and fun little games included on the pages.

My Favorite Language Arts Program, Ever!
As an early childhood teacher, I wish this had been out when I was teaching PreK/K. This is probably the best phonics based program I have ever used. The suggestions for activities are fun, especially for active, energetic kids (e.g. - tape phonogram cards up and let kids throw a Nerf ball at them - if they can read the card they hit, they get to keep it.) I am currently homeschooling my 4 year old, and he absolutely loves the Foundations program. There are also suggestions for modifications for kids at different levels - for example, if writing skills are not developed as well as language skills, use letter tiles to spell instead of writing words; handwriting pages provide several different line sizes, from small to large. My only "complaints" about the program are, first, my personal preference for Handwriting Without Tears as a handwriting program. Foundations offers the option of either beginning Cursive, or D'Nealian printing, which both have advantages. It's also terrific to find a program that offers both a printing and cursive option. They just don't offer the one I happen to prefer. The second "complaint" is that this is such a new program, my child is learning and progressing faster than they can publish the next level. :-)

Best reading program ever
Logic of English has been vital to my mildly dyslexic son's learning. Everyone should learn to read and spell and write this way but it is especially important for kids with phonemic awareness issues. It is easy to use and incorporates different learning styles. It is an Orton-Gillingham program and I think it is the easiest one for a parent and student to use. I have learned so much (now I know why there is an "e" at the end of the word "have.") Check out their website for more details.
