such a sparkling narrative with a wonderful fantastical story
Oh...such a sparkling narrative with a wonderful fantastical story...Though its quite the 'run of the mill' young boy becomes saviour hero story and doesn't do anything new as far as fantasy novels go...its a book for all ages...And always remember..."Before Harry potter,Eragon,Fitz(and others)....there was GED"...So those stories are based on the earthsea and not the other way around....P.s: Those who were fascinated with the concept of 'true names' in Eragon ...will find where Palolini got his inspiration and base in this book

Super atmospheric coming of age and growing up story
The book was in absolutely good condition when I recieved it. As the story advance we see an young imprudent boy become wise and mature as he grows. It has absolutely good character development and many morals for respect and space can be learned from these books.I really enjoyed reading these.

The book arrived in good condition, with one corner slightly bent, but that's ok as it looked newlike and unused overall. I've read The first two books in the volume till now and I like the second one much better. A Wizard of Earthsea has a well described setting, le Guin tries hard to establish the new universe. As a character I didn't like Ged much till he lost his arrogance. I'm a little astonished that the daughter of the respected anthropologist Krober, created such a patriarchal society but it's not too blatant the setting. The dynamics between the characters is a bit solemn, but then again this is not a humorous work, though very enjoyable. The Tombs of Atuan, I liked much much more. The character growth of Tenar is really perceivable and Ged by now is far different from the arrogant or the scared version of his former self. Tenant evolves from a girl who quietly believes all she is taught to one, hesitantly but surely questioning the dogma. The best of all is the fourth book. Best pacing, character development and it has some deep themes such as assault. For me this series will be a one time read, because of the slightly obtuse writing style and the philosophical bent. It's a pretty good series but just not that amazing for me

Magical!
This was one of the best fantasy books I've ever read. Ursula's language is poetic and philosophical. Ursula's hero Ged actually grows old during the course of these 4 books. Magical is the word I'd use to describe these stories.

Book is damaged
The book arrived dented and damaged. The spine is cracked and the book isn't shrink wrapped. If you're a collector, don't go for it. Paper quality is good but I doubt the book will survive re-reads.

All 4 books in one.
Love this series from K. LeGuin. I remember reading this back in high school. It states the forst 4 books. What I didn't realize is that ALL 4 books are actually in one binding. It's ok though. You'll never have one of these go missing while reading through the series. 😃

Viva Ursula!

WHO IS THE GREATEST?
Who is the greatest high fantasy writer? Tolkien or Le Guin? For me the matter as she writes in a way that is always relevant, always powerful. I doubt whether anybody will ever be able to achieve this level again, but let's see. BTW not a children's book a book for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see.

Read this!
I love these books, they are smart, wise and compelling. Reading them I realised how much the author influenced later fantasy writers. I'm not even a huge fantasy fan but these books are beautifully written and the main characters so unique and unusual. I didn't come to these books to learn more about myself and the would yet here we are.

Fantastic series!
These books actually helped me grow up. They are written in such an amazing, magical style. I love Ursula K LeGuin’s approach to problem solving throughout the series; she’s an unparalleled author, truly first rate. These are some of her finest stories.
