This is a good book full of helpful material on your journey to learning and mastering the art of log home building. Required reading if you want to attend a school.

Lots of illustrations and info on log home ( cabin) or what ever building.Really good reference book to have in your library.

Allen Mackie's the original starting point for the resurrgence of the craft of log building and can be traced to every major log building project built in the past 30+ years around the world! This book is a good how-to and often used by owner builders and students alike with great results! I just wish he would do something on log roof support systems in greater detail and also a new revised edition of "The Picture Book of Log Homes"! We're looking for the day! just getting in to researching a log house and found this an excellent book. well written and the images are very clean and clear. the book can be a little technical, and it takes for granted that you are aware of carpentry terminology - but it's nothing that a quick google search cannot simplify

Ein nicht allzu dickes Buch mit vielen detailierten Tips zum Blockbau.Anders als die meisten anderen Bücher zum Thema, inkludiert es kaum Grundrisspläne. Gut so, die braucht man im Regelfall ja auch nicht. Braucht man sie, kauft man spezielle Literatur dazu.Viele Tips zum Werkzeug und zur Sicherheit.Ein Stern Abzug, weil (wie in fast allen Büchern zum Thema) Fußböden, Dachböden und Dachisolierung viel zu kurz kommen.Ich habe jetzt 5 Bücher zum Thema gelesen und weiß noch immer zu wenig zum Thema Fußboden und Dachisolierung.Es ist eines der vollständigeren Bücher, allerdings sollte man mehr als nur dieses lesen, um sich wirklich gut vorzubereiten.Für den geringen Preis allerdings ein sehr gutes Buch, das ich absolut empfehlen kann!
