It’s sometimes a shame we allow others to write reviews. One reviewer gave these lights one star because one light out of six wasn’t working. Really? You couldn’t just return the lights and get a new one and give it a decent rating? Another gave 1 star due to the warranty…that they didn’t even use.It’s a well designed light with a comfortable color. I was impressed that inside the electrical box it was pre wired with the “Ideal type” push-to-connect wire connectors. No wire nuts. Safe and easy. No fuss. Someone at this company was thinking.The instructions call for a 3 1/2” hole. I used a 3 1/4” hole saw attached to my drill and that was the perfect size and still gives you some play. It’s not easy to cut a precise 3 1/2” circle. So I’d choose this method. Ignore the rating extremest and buy these. It’s a great product.

I have used these all over the house. They are great and so easy to install.

I ordered 3 of these 3" gimbal LED 2700k lights and wow. My wife wanted some down lights from the soffits of our home and these were incredibly easy to install. I just hooked them into our existing outdoor lights (front door and garage torches) and they all worked beautifully. I just got a 3" coring bit and drilled into the soffit. The connectors in the j-box are idiot proof and adhere to building code for existing installations.I'm still waiting to hear back from them as I am 1 light short of completing my project and I'm hoping I can arrange a single light purchase instead of getting a whole 6 pack. I've already done the back of my house so there is really no place I can add anymore lights but 1.I can't speak to the longevity of the lights yet, but I suspect they will do great.Installation: core out a 3" hole in your soffit. Run wires to that hole and hook them up in the j-box. Once installed, I needed to add white silicone as they were placed in a groove in the soffit and it needed protection from insects getting in. All done, they look beautiful!

After much research I ended with these light because of the customer reviews and the technical specs.The Packing was good at both protecting the lights, and the presentation when yo open the box was impressive.The build quality is great. Everything is metal on these which is nice.Installation was what I expected after reading reviews but with one correction. The lights are not difficult to get the clips through the hole. I waited to buy a hole saw until after I had these in hand. Buy yourself a 3 1/4 hole saw and you’ll be fine.As described by the other reviews, the junction boxes are a different story. Once the box is wired it’s nearly impossible to get through the hole. Hey torchlight, put the junction box knockouts on the end and I would have zero complaints.I bought the lowest wattage an 2700 color and they are as light as halogens. They are CRI 90+, so the color is really nice.I hooked these up to a standard Lutron dimmer and they dim with zero flickering. I run mine fully dimmed and they look awesome.When hitting the power they take a second to come on. My opinion is they’ve designed a driver that protects the bulbs and makes dimming possible. This same driver probably protects the bulbs when turning on when their cold.Overall I’m very pleased and would recommend these to anyone.

I've installed about 30 of these across my house. Not only were they pretty simple and straightforward to install, but now 2 years later they are still running strong after being used for 6 hours every day.

As with the other Torchstar products I've purchased these are well built and seem to produce the lumens as advertised. I have yet to install them but after powering them with an extension cord to test placement I'm pleased with the throw of light. These are bright so I intend to install on a dimmer. I'm apprehensive about longevity because these will be installed in an eve and if they fail I don't want to be stuck with a 3.5" hole so I will buy a few extras to have on hand. As an electrical contractor I see an array of products and these seem to be on par with the big manufacturers such as Lithonia and Hubbell. Time will tell and I will update with pictures after install. Even though they offer a good warranty I'm only giving 4-stars until I've had a chance to test over time. **Update** Fixtures look great, easy to install and adjust-ability is easy. The overall build on these lights is OK, not great. The clips are pressed in and vulnerable to snapping off the housing, one fixture broke in the install process. While they are adjustable it takes some working to get the aperture to stay put and some over adjustment is needed. All in all still a great fixture for the money and very pleased with the end result. I will be buying a few more for a future product and keep a couple as spares. Once I get the dimmer installed I will lower the level to help soften the glow.

I am a fan of the LED energy efficient properties, but not necessarily of the light quality - with most LED lights, even if not dimmed, I can see the subtle strobe-like effects or I lack the full range of light that incadescent bulbs give off. However, these lights are the only exception to this experience. They literally transformed our living and dining spaces with high quality, functional, no-flicker, warm-to-neutral lights (desirable for home use) that can be directed at art and objects. I spent 10x less on these lights than the mid to top-of-the-range options we were also considering. We expected lower performance with this value purchase, but we were pleasantly surprised. I don't have the necessary technical knowledge to describe the nomenclature of LED light specifics, but for our sensitive eyes, the spaces "feel" good with these lights on. I am also impressed with all the lights being of the same standard color of light - at this affordable price range, some products can be inconsistent. We were so satisfied with their performance (more than a year later and all lights are still fully functional), that we bought more for a commercial bathroom and kitchen project.
