This book is extremely insightful and well written. The thing is you need to read it slowly; there’s a lot of ideas on each page and they’re all worth learning and applying. The book really lives up to the title (sometimes a rare thing these days) so I appreciate the authors hard work and wisdom.

the authors jokes and puns are off. it can be dense and unrelatable at times. But he has the right idea of what to teach and he can help alot of people if they just stick it out.

Sometimes we all need to find just the right words and need all the help we can get. Great tips and tricks for developing a new writing skill. I expect my witcraft will improve after reading the entire book. It's a lot to read.

Heinrichs explains in great detail how to turn that special phrase that makes any writing memorable. His explanation of technique, using examples from his own family's life is funny and explanatory. And the tips are relatively easy to master and use in your own writing. One thing, after reading the book, you will find yourself thinking about the patience and humor of his wife - she must be a saint!

This is a fun book about to use language and modify how you use language to get better responses. However, even with the exercises--this stuff is hard to do! I imagine I'll still be at it for years but this book provides a good road map. Lots of fun.

Words are powerful, Jay makes it clear from the outset. And if you want to wield great power then this book is for you! Witty, easy to read, entertaining, and will change the way you look at words. Buy it!

the book was good for its intended purpose. great in fact. but far too much political commentary. it was present multiple times in every chapter. so much so that one could really question the author's agenda

"Word Hero" funktioniert als Nachschlagewerk ebenso wie als S-Bahnlektüre.Über den Blog [...] bekommt man ein Gefühl dafür, wie unterhaltsam Heinrich schreibt.Ich hoffe, Heinrich findet einen deutschen Verleger und vor allem einen exzellenten Übersetzer, der den Wortwitz des Autors kreativ übertragen kann.

I bought it as a paperback and then I bought it as ebook -- that's how instructive and useful this book is. If you want to surge beyond the pack of purple prosers, if you want to write right, if you want to love writing again, get this book and use it.

Excellent read. Great ideas. I have truly enjoyed reading this book.

This volume is a great read but I would say that Heinrichs first book, Thank you For Arguing, is even greater. I'd read the latter if I had only time to read one...
