She doesn’t “show” obvious blindness. Her eyes are beautiful, not purple or violet. When people have no sight, there is a subtle “tell” in that the eye muscles are not as active or flexed much at all. I have noticed in elderly people this results in less eye wrinkles. The effect, in my opinion, is beautiful. Mary’s face shape is a little unusual as others have stated, she looks just like blind friends I have known. I used to work with special needs kids at easter seals, and I love special dolls. Thank you so much for making this brilliant doll. I’m sorry not everyone seems to understand.

Absolutely beautiful doll. Great alternative to American girl as we don’t support their company. I was thrilled to find this for my 5 yr old daughter. Her favorite doll by far and it really has grown her love for little house on the prairie.

This doll is so beautiful in the online pictures, however, the face is very unusually shaped. The face in the eye area is very dented in. I thought maybe it was a defect, but they sent a replacement doll and her face was the same. The jaw is also placed very far and unusually forward. Also, if the doll is undressed her body is somewhat unusually formed too, squared off areas verses the regular somooth, rounded frame. Another thing is the eyes. You can see the metal casing around them, which doesn't seem very nice. I didn't want to complain. I think these are about the sweetest dolls I've ever seen, and I love the sweet smile on their faces! We were so looking forward to give our little girl her Mary Ingalls doll for her birthday as she has been enjoying the books. But the face is just so odd that we really didn't like it. I ended up ordering a different doll and ordering the Mary outfit to go on it. That looks darling, and on a very normal looking 18" doll face. The doll does seem very quality other than the sunk in eyes and protruding jaw. The hair is a very nice texture and would be easy to play with. The outfit also seems very well made. I would definitely recommend their brand. I just really wish the dolls faces were different. Also, an important note- I did not realize that they have a restocking fee. That was very disappointing after all the hassle of hoping we just had a defective doll.
