Bloomberg by Bloomberg

This is an interesting one, as the book is caught between a biography and a story about the company, it has some great points about the man's life, although it tries to emphasis the drive and commitment it takes to succeed. He was a success before Bloomberg and a bigger success with it. The challenge of this book is that it is a book geared to the corporate business man hankering to get out there on his own and make it happen. if your a smaller business owner you might find some information not relevant to your current circumstances, as business owners face very different challenges to the corporate man. On the whole a decent read.

Money well spent!As someone that is interested in the finance industry and hopes to become a city trader one day; I purchased this book and have not regretted it. The reason for this is that it shows Bloomberg's interesting journey throughout the years combined with some knowledgeable tips and tricks that may help the reader. This review is based on the first two chapters but I am sure that the rest of the book is as good as the beginning.

Its a good read about the Bloomberg brand, and how he managed to build a formidable force in Financial journalism and technology. That aside, the writing style meanders and it is transparent to me that he wrote this book at a time when he struggled to recall most of the detail but still did a great job in hindsight. Im not impressed with some of the reflective issues, he should have kept that out.. but it still has some Epic insights into thinking and procedure which would be god material for a lot of MBa students.. but that said Im not sure I actually learned anything new in principle. but his ability to stay focused and spot an opportunity and creatively adapt through deal making? That to me is the insight into this book. His focus and belief and resolute nature is clearly the force behind his success despite me not being impressed with naming the organisation after himself... that I found a bit too much.

It started off good and some good points that stuck with me like about passion. But then other hand hand, particularly the last 30% of the book became abit of a rant in all honesty and wasn't useful or interesting at all.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Bloomberg is simply another example of an incredible man who lives his life to the fullest.His philosphies with which he runs his businesses are well worth a read and for those keen entrepreneurs, it is an exciting journey about a life of a successful startup, that later turned into an enterprise.To sum it all, an inspirational journey.
