Harry Feversham (Heath Ledger), a British officer, resigns his commission on the eve of a battle in the Sudan. He is given four white feathers by his friends and fiancee (Kate Hudson) as a symbol of cowardice. Determined to win back his honour, Feversham exposes himself to hardship while disguised as a Sudanese man in an attempt to aid his comrades.

Boys own adventure
I love this story. Several films have been made about it and each one has a feel good factor. A definate adventure, hero soldier form days of the empire assisted to put wrongs to right by a mysterious muslim resident who he meets on the way.Decent cast, decent script.Well made.

Well made, little bit of brutality..
I enjoyed it. I can't imagine that it was an easy movie to make. I wished there were subtitles a few times, but I haven't seen a version that did. I love anything with Heath Ledger in it. Kate Hudson with red hair is a completely cring.

A Boys Own Classic
I bought this for my library to go with The Charge of the Light Brigade, Zulu, Young Winston, Waterloo, Zulu Dawn, Barry Ryan etc. A must-have if you like British military historical fact or fiction.

Very atmospheric
This story has been made several times, but for me, this is the most enjoyable. Set during the heady days of the British Empire in 1880s. It follows the exploits of a soldier who is ostrasized by his friends when he leaves the Army as they are about to go to war in the Sudan. He is given four feathers, which are insulting and a way of telling him he is a coward. He sets of on a quest to return each feather to each sender while fighting in the Sudan.
