Walker & Hawkes - Mens Derby Tweed Shooting Hunting Country Jacket - Light Sage

Always fancied one of these coats as I work outdoors in all weathers but, £300 - £400 for a work coat? Nah. This coat is made in England and I cannot fault the fit, finish or detail. Big handy pockets, easy zip and storm flaps if the weather gets hairy. Winter is coming but I have no doubt this coat will keep me warm on the top moors. For eighty five quid. I recommend this coat to the house.

This is one of the few examples of an Amazon purchase being as good as one had hoped. The coat is genuinely value for money: I purchased light sage coloured Derby tweed which is a good quality tweed material that looks lovely in natural light and has been well cut and stitched. Above all it is beautifully warm, the cuffs have effective wind baffles and it is very thickly lined. The fitting is accurate to the size chart, I am skinny but tall with long arms so went with XL and it does look loose across the chest, but if you buy of the peg that is to be expected. To improve it I would suggest that the poppers could be larger, they all work but I think I will be careful of ripping at them; also the game-pocket could perhaps be larger. The neck piece one can removed and stowed in the internal zip pocket. It would be possible to spend five times the price on a big name equivalent but you would certainly not get five times the worth! I liked that it was UK manufactured as well as the use of Royal Mail for delivery.

Upon delivery, it was noticed that, although my jacket carried a label for the size orders, the size started in the jacket was 5XL, which, even for a fatty like me, was a bit too large.I contacted Walker and Hawkes and they arranged a replacement to be sent to me straight away, even before I had chance to send the other one back.The jacket arrived and is great quality. It is incredibly warm and has already been testing in some truly awful weather. I remained bone dry and so warm, I could have easily believed I was sat in my parents house in winter (they were big fans of central heating)!So impressed with the service, I ordered a matching cap the next day, which is also great.I don't often do these reviews but I feel that when you come across someone, in this day and age, who still recognizes the value of good customer service, it is worth talking about.

I bought this after an airline mislaid my bag and I needed a coat in a hurry. I’m rather pleased that I did. It fits very well on my rather large frame. Anyone could easily believe that it cost 3x what I paid for it. Copious and capacious pockets.My only complaint is that it is, if anything, too warm. Wearing it in London in the autumn I had to keep taking it off to cool down. The padded lining is not removable. Now heading into winter in Northern China it’s ideal. If the manufacturer made exactly the same coat but without the padded lining I would absolutely buy that as well.

A really wonderful jacket, as far as material and style is concerned. Really lovely and a really low price for this nice quality. A lot of details. I have bought also gilet, breeches and cap in the same materials. Really happy with all the items. Ideal to walk in the country.

I loved it but it was too large - I'm a 42 and that was a medium! I'm sure this is for baggy jumpers etc. I ended up going for a secondhand Barbour Solway Zipper in the end but I expect I shall go for another of these at some point. The cut wasn't as you might hope - not very tailored at the waist so it looks a bit lumpy on. It's not the 'real deal' but it's not far off. Very warm and really very smart - I felt good in it.

I read all the reviews and opted for a "Small" (I usually order "Medium" in shirts/coats - 42" chest, 34" waist - as the reviews warned about large sizes!). It fitted although it was snug and smart, but walking would have been far too warm without any air circulating, so have returned it.I was planning to swap for a "Medium" but on inspection the zip is a Bangladesh-shiny gold colour which is a bit tacky (it's hidden in the pictures) and didn't feel great quality....certainly at odds with the general feel of the jacket, which is excellent.

Lovely warm coat, nicely lined and looks good. Sizing is a little confusing as the size chart on Amazon differs from the manufacturer's website size chart. I ordered both a medium (my usual size) and a small. The medium was large and the small was medium. Kept the small and returned the medium. Pleased with my purchase.
